How have you "critically" studied the NWT when by your own admission, you can't read Greek?
Well, Thomas was speaking directly to Jesus and if Jesus Himself didn’t claim to be God, He would have rebuked Thomas for calling Him his Lord and his God.
Same thing happened earlier in the story with the Jews.
John 5:18 - Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

It is the OTHER reading that's agreeable to the Bible.

He knew that Thomas was exclaiming what we do nowadays: "My GOD!"

I do see that Jesus goes out of His way to make the distinction between the Son and the Father. That’s not a denial.
That doesn’t sound like very good assurance of heaven.
