From my limited knowledge, it seems 2 of Gray’s sons have learned from and distanced themselves from their father’s philosophy of ministry.
As to the podcast, unless you experienced some abuse or mistreatment from LBC, it’s the equivalent of watching I Love Lucy black and white reruns.
I have listened to BG2's statement regarding the shift in ministry philosophy and their "Re-Branding" which I greatly appreciate although it is clear that they are still hard-core IFB, KJVO, they no longer seem to be of the "abusive" variety or at least no longer of the scope that BG Sr. practiced. It is therefore not something I would even remotely consider attending much less affilliating myself with today.
What we can appreciate is that the current leadership has acknowledged that they were in the wrong and are trying to make things right. Then again, I guess we could say that they are just "rebranding and whitewashing" but I would rather reserve such judgment for those who have better familiarity.
My journey away from the IFB was from the "Paul Chappell/Lancaster Baptist Church" brand of which I would consider today as the "best case scenario" of the IFB/KJVO movement. I had my own things to work out but when I left, a good number of folks started approaching me with all their "horror stories" of which I was sympathetic but had little frame of reference myself because most of these were "all in" and well-favored (former deacons, leaders, etc.) I was pretty much "personna non-grata" and on the "outside looking in."
Eric Skwarczynski ("Preacher Boys") has connections with both GSBC (Trieber) and WCBC (Chappell) and I have familiarity with both. Unfortunately, he has also gone apostate which means he is not approaching anything from a biblical, balanced worldview and, as a matter of fact, he is moving more and more towards an "anti-Christian" message these days which is quite tragic.
Spurgeon, on the other hand, seems to be approaching things from the authority of scripture which is a breath of fresh air! I believe we all have matured significantly over the years as we can see that the FFF has taken on a quite different tone these days has it not?
