Happened yesterday, as ex marine vet wandered into a Mormon Church here in Grand Blanc Mi and opened fire, killing 4 persons, another in critical state, and also he burned down that building and 7 members missing presumed to have been burnt alive

Know that Mormons are a Cult, but still tragedy, and pray the the Lord will redeem this event to get out to them ther ttrue Jesus and true Gospel message during this tough time

Was it really necessary to make this comment in preface to your statement? Seriously?

Was it necessary for Mormons like Mike Lee to post messages about how Mormonism is really another Christian denomination?

That whole thing about this not being an appropriate time to score theological/political points cuts both ways. Pretty much everyone is agreed that a great evil took place yesterday and are sorry for their loss. If guys like Lee are going to take advantage of that goodwill to insinuate themselves into the big Christian tent, then it merits a response.

Thee Mormons didn't even try to argue until a few decades ago that they're just one more Christian denomination. Joseph Smith's First Vision, a key LDS teaching, was that the Father and Jesus appeared to him and told him all the sectarian creeds were lies. They presented themselves as the one true faith. Until recently they had no problem with the use of the label "Mormon" (it was in all of their pro-family advertising back in the 1980s, for ecample). It was LDS president Russell M. Nelson (who died only two days ago) who insisted on the full use of the church name or "Church of Jesus Christ" for short rather than "Mormon church" or something similar--to emphasize inclusion in the Christian rubric rather than those profound and fundamental differences that make them very much not us.

Honestly, I don’t find it any less sensational than you believing that Christ only died for select people.

I'm beginning to suspect that for you, "Christianity" has all the substance of a luggage tag.

Just staing where it happened, and sincerely hope tht the true Lord Jesus can redeem out of that group people for Himself, as right now they would be struggling without any real hope for the future

Already seeing how some have called this as another attack upon the Christians and their churches, but just trying to make sure we do not allow to have Mormonism redefined as just another Christian group in midst of this tragedy

If by this tragedy Mormons feel emboldened to claim to be part of mainline Christianity, a position they have vehemently denied in the past, the problem is with them, not those of us who are biblically discerning. We keep on the straight and narrow, weep with them as we would weep with any group who has suffered tragedy and look for ways to speak the truth to them in humility and grace.

Just feel sad for them, as those without any hope, as their Jesus is not the real one of the Bible, and their so called Holy Ghost is spirt of antichrist, so just hope that the Lord gets out to them now the truth

Indeed.

They have hope, just not the same type of hope we believe in. They think we’re the hopeless ones.
