Dance as worship

Anybody ever go to a church where this is practiced as a form of worship ("Liturgical, worship flag, praise, prophetic, and spirit led")? I have a kind Christian young lady who teaches dance that would like to use our facilities for such instruction. You can imagine the awkwardness of tackling this one, but fortunately for me I can defer that decision to my stodgier-than-me Senior Pastor, lol.

Anyhoo, thoughts on dance as an expression of formal worship? Thoughts about allowing the church property to teach such?

Interesting you should mention "worship flag(s)". Chapters of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) from Washington hold various events where worship is included. A couple ladies from one of the chapters stand up front and to the side twirling flags while the worship team is leading. My response is, "whatever..." if they are truly being led in this, who am I to second guess the Spirit's leading. I don't think their chosen mode of worship would fly at any Calvary Chapel I am aware of. CC's tend to value worship that borders on the low key so as not to draw attention to any one member of the team.

Only if it’s a Christian Nationalist service and the flags they wave are US Flags! 😊
 
There's little as disconcerting as having shiny flags constantly twirling in your peripheral vision. I'm not claustophobic, but that makes me claustrophobic.

Also, I got hit by a flag once when some teen was dancing in the aisle. Sorry, toots, but where the Holy Spirit led you, ended where my shoulder began.
 
There is a "dance team" at our church that sometimes does their thing with the worship team. Everyone is dressed modestly and nothing sensual so I am ambivalent about it (keeping my mouth shut). My 6-year old granddaughter is on the dance team so I do support and encourage her.
 
Well if you are going to dance in church, should one not follow scripture using an example of dancing in the OT? Dance like David...

Which is exactly why we don't practice it in my church. I ain't getting in front of the congregation in my underwear!

So, hypothetically, if one believes that dance can be performed as worship as an aspect of art, could the form change to something, say, like sculpting or painting as an assist to worship?
 
You see? They let that infernal organ in and now people want to twirl in the scivvies!

As in daubing paint during the music? Pretty common for chalkboard art being done while a music track plays. I suppose it could be done while the congregation is singing. Or chiseling marble maybe?!

On the other hand, sculpture, paintings and other art (stained glass) have played a part in creating the worship space in many church facilities. Static worship art if you will.

David's dancing was spontaneous and motivated by his own joy. It'd be analogous to someone dancing at their seat while singing, rather than a performance.

Sorry for all the questions, but...

What types of churches are you referring to that uses these aids? Do they do this alongside the preaching? As a warm-up? A separate (special) service? How does this comport with the Evangelical tradition?

Though I'm a normative principle kinda guy I don't see how such worship practices should be conceived as appropriate when there's scant/zero Biblical examples to warrant them.
