Are you watching the Super Bowl?

I purposely did not watch the Super Bowl. I did skim across the "Turning Point" show but the music really wasn't my taste. The last song Kid Rock did was pretty good though.
 
Kid Rock was the only name I recognized. The only song of his I ever liked much was "All Summer Long". My appreciation there was mostly about how he merged two very distinct styles. Mixing Lynyrd Skynyrd and Warren Zevon was pretty cool.

Two different styles, same exact rhythm and chord progressions. Not much talent required, just lots of practice.

Didn't say anything about talent. I just liked the merger and how it turned out. Not an idea that I would have come up with.

BTW one of the best scenes in "Mr. Hollands Opus" is when he shows the kids how rock and roll was cribbed from Bach.

I purposely ignored the whole thing until last night before turning out the lights, I checked the score just out of curiosity. Holding New England scoreless for three quarters caused me to wonder if they forgot to show up with their offense.

Today while out and about, I've seen enough navy blue and bright green to last me through the entire off-season. I'm deep in Seahawks county.
 
Since the NFL is preaching inclusivity and touting its commitment to diversity, maybe they should reconsider their entire Super Bowl halftime show strategy. Having 90% of your halftime lyrics “sung” en espanol is not diversity—quite the opposite. Maybe they need to start thinking in terms of a country singer, followed by a rapper, followed by Latin singer, etc. Wouldn’t that be true diversity?

I was not excited about snd did not watch either halftime show. The game didn’t excite me either but I watched most of the 2nd half.

Yeah, I thought that the counter perspective that they were trying to display would be a little more “ wholesome”. Just goes to show you that politics make for strange bed fellows, especially when mingled with Christianity or religion.

i haven;t watched any NFL game since 2020.... but I wrote something about it at that time when pro football players were making a show of disrespect by kneeling during the national anthem.... ..it was a long post but i;ll paraphrase the last half of it here

put all that on the field and see how many tickets are sold for a regular game - much less the super bowl. .... then when they find themselves playing to empty stadiums let the leftists.... (but especially the pro-football players kneeling during the national anthem).... put that in their pipe and smoke it .... ...i;ll even pack the pipe or roll it into a cigar for them... put it between their teeth, and light it for them too if they like.....:cool: ..

(and yes.... even though i am a non-smoker i do know how to roll cigars..... just one of the many things i have studied on my own and learned how to do during leisure time..... ..of which some people think i have too much of..... )

You make some valid points. I’ve often thought the same about the NBA, which has gone from over 90% white players in the 1950s to fewer than 20% today. BTW, the WNBA sits at about the same figures.

it was all meant to be tongue in cheek back when i wrote it.... . but back then the NFL was nowhere near as woke or far left as it now.. .... it seems a more serious argument now..... ..... .. . but to be fair i mentioned the NBA too in another post of that same thread.... and mentioned how ironic it was players in the NBA refused to support hong kong protesters when they demonstrated for free speech and civil rights.... but instead bent over backwards for communist china.....

what;s scary is that the same liberals who agree affirmative action would never work in sports because in order to maintain excellence, sports recruitment must remain merit based - openly support affirmative action policies in medical school ...police departments... first responder training... and all other kinds of jobs related to public safety......

an even stranger bed fellow is the mixture of christianity and entertainment... and the confusion some have as to when one has been abandoned and the other has taken over.... ..a good example of that is what the modern church service has become..... some are hard to tell from a rock concert.... and that;s not just me - that;s what many members of those churches say........

i didn;t watch the tpusa event but what i heard about it even before the game started - was that it was going to be a conservative and pro-american alternative to bad bunnys woke and leftist anti-american dumpster fire... in other words a politcally oriented event... .... i never heard it was going to be "christian" entertainment..... and if i had heard that then i would have assumed it to be something like a ccm concert.... but certainly not kid rock......... but then i am not a ccm fan either so i would have found that just as hard to sit through as some found kid rock to be.......

and .... by the way... even though i am not a fan of kid rock or musicians like him.... i am still glad he supports the president and is pro-america ...but i still wouldn;t go to a kid rock concert even if he gave one for free...... you don;t have to peel every banana in question just to know one is rotten by the looks of it.......
