Bathsheba's Sin?

I suspect Sub has been reading stuff from the progressive crowd again, like this.
 
Adultery of course.
Neither of them were punished according to the letter of the law. God instead took the life of their child.
 
The scriptures choose not to indict Bathsheba with any sin but charges David only. Splitting of the blame is not the intent of the narrative. When confronted with his sin, David didn't pull an Adam and say, "the woman you gave me". David took sole responsibility.

The good news for us is that the most vile of sins are forgivable albeit not free of consequences.
 
A friend posted a screed about how she was a victim of the (wait for it) patriarchy. She went on to talk about how Bathsheba is portrayed in sermons. I personally have never heard any preacher speak of her as this friend claims that they have and do. If David had been using his head properly he would have been out to battle with Uriah. Started with him. What her motivation was is not told as far as I am aware. The same reason that I taught my daughters to assume that all men are pigs. David did nothing to make me think differently. Bathsheba a victim? Sure and a willing one.

The usual issues. Pro LGBTQ, Immigrant, feminism, etc.

Ironically, your question corresponded with Cremer’s screed on David’s (and the whole O. T.) misogyny that I read just yesterday. It was forwarded by a FB friend who is a progressive self-professed Christian, claiming such oppressive theology was predominant in evangelical churches they had always been part of. The typical Marxist power dynamic of Cremer Is employed to promote a woke version of the social gospel.

I have preached on that passage before, and heard it preached by others quite often (in a fundamentalist context) and never heard Bathsheba blamed or scapegoated for David’s sin.

"Bathsheba was raped" is not an uncommon assertion amongst feminist Christians.
