Secret Service kills Man at Trump’s Residence

Okay, what conservative policies have I assailed?

I’m not sure what you would confirm is a conservative policy.
And, conservative policy does not supersede personality in your world.

I’m not accusing you of slandering conservatism.
I’m not accusing you of espousing liberalism.
I just said, in the post that started this conversation, that your whole body of work on the forum does not make me think conservative.

That is very often the end result of TDS.

Reverse TDS ends in making excuses for everything he does regardless of the conservative or liberal aspects of his policies/actions. Support for him has become the litmus test for "conservatism" no matter how liberal his decisions. A core value of the conservative movement was once to rein in the governmental behemoth. Somehow it is now acceptable to use/abuse the levers of power as long as they are done in a manner that I like. Even if I didn't like it in the past. Now it's okay because he says it is and he plays 4D chess

Who here has made excuses for everything he does?
It seems to me that you need some new friends on the inter web.
Or maybe stop obsessing over their posts.😉

Let me ask you this. What action(s) of his do you disapprove of or disagree with? You are quite clear that you agree with me that he is a jerk. I don't recall any of his policy decisions where you have expressed disagreement. No doubt I could have missed something so I am asking you to correct my impression that you are in agreement with him and his policies across the board.

Just off the top of my head:
I don’t like his tariff policy…at all.
I dislike many of his hiring decisions, people who seem to be inept.
His money making crypto, watch etc.
His handling of the Ukraine war.

And I don’t care what you think about any of these. I can live my life knowing who and what Trump is without being obsessed by him or those who support him.

And, given the choice between Trump and Biden, Harris or Newsome, I’d vote Trump every time.

Thanks. I can agree with those and add his bullying over Greenland and excessive (IMO) use of executive orders.

The overuse of executive orders is hardly a Trump one-off.
I believe FDR holds the record.

Of policy I disagree with Trump on, the sale of crypto, watches etc. probably is more personality than policy.

I do not have to agree with or defend everything he does to believe he’s the better option than almost any Progressive candidate. Often Trump does or says things that make me cringe….but I’m not obsessed with him….as you appear to be.

Don’t be sad….
My point was that multiple EO’s are not a recent phenomenon.
It was one of the regular talking points from folks like Limbaugh, except for when the president was their guy.

In the case of Mr. Trump he relies on declaring everything an emergency to justify avoiding the legislative process that we are supposed to be governed by. Also he made a big deal of reversing Biden's EOs but that is only useful until the next democrat president returns the favor to their base.

Representative government is not supposed to be a series of "because I said so" pronouncements. Even if one likes his EOs there should be a basic concern about habitually circumventing the legislative process.

So, are you arguing that EO’s in general are wrong?
That Trumps specifically are wrong?
(That ^^ was rhetorical because you think everything he does is wrong.)

George Washington issued EOs.
Trump, at this point has not set the EO record, but is on track to do so…
Like many things in politics, it’s good if I do it, bad if my opponent does it.
If you want EO’s outlawed, write your congressman….or congress woman!

For buS:
Donald Trump is a pompous, egotistical, narcissistic and prideful man!

😉

So, are you arguing that EO’s in general are wrong?

No, but EOs are supposed to be directives to the Executive Branch from its chief executive, setting internal policy or organization, and so forth; or exercising his constitutionally granted powers, such as, say, directing emergency responses or diplomatic affairs.

Trump's use of executive orders to impose trade tariffs on Canada last year under the International Emergency Executive Powers Act were just struck down because they were an overreach--the President doesn't have the authority to use the IEEPA to create new tariffs.
