My son told his counselor the reason he isn’t joining the Marines is, if Im gonna die I want it to be defended America not Israel.

tell him congratulations..... by taking your advice he just made himself un-hireable by every fire department - police department and government law enforcement agency i know of...... all of those services recruit heavly from the marines and other military branches... ..wait until they hear he didn;t want to go military... (especially not marines...) ....because he was afraid of dying for the "wrong people"....

do you think another firefigher or police officer is going to want him going into a structure fire ... robbery in progrees... or dangerous rescue situation with him? - not knowing whether he will back out.... or chicken out - because the people in danger might be the "wrong people"?.... ......

but don;t worry about it..... maybe it;s different in your part of the country and they will be desperate for help.... or maybe the counsellor can get him a job as a PE instructor... .. or a study hall monitor..... . maybe he can coach girls soccer.... ..i hear the iranians might be looking for a new coach......

how would you know?..... have you ever done either of those jobs?...........

cowardice is cowardice no matter who the people in danger that someone is refusing to help are... ... and that;s exactly how recruiters at police and fire departments look at it.... so does the military.... ...

but maybe you can go to his job interview with him and explain the differences to them yourself - since you are so experienced and knowledgable.. ..:rolleyes:.. .. i doubt they will listen to an 18 year old trying to tell them what his daddy said..... ..

how did somebody as negative and down on everything as you end up with a son who wanted to serve his country and join the marines in the first place?..... (if that is really what he wanted to do)..

if you can;t understand or refuse to see that someday he will realize he could have pursued that dream - and actually become a marine - but you talked him out of it....

and if you can;t forsee what that realization and regret will do to your future relationship with him - then that;s not just on you - it will be on him too...... .

#2. Because you actually do not know who I am. Also, I’d like to think that I’m very patriotic. But you wouldn’t know that because you do not know me. Also, texting or communicating in this way is a horrible way to communicate with people. So how could you know me?

#3. I believe he will realize that he made the correct decision. Because in 20 years we will view this war as we do Afghanistan. Also, he’s knows it’s his decision not mine. I’ve told him many times, at the end of the day America rules the world, good or bad, because of men like you, because of our military.

#4. We’ve always and I mean always explained to our children that parents do the best that they can with the information they have for the betterment of their children. In regards to, not agreeing with what parents teach or do with their children. In other words, we’ve taught them everyone is doing their best don’t be so hard on people.
