b) Even if I did, the cable companies don't carry Fox News up here.

You can order it as a specialty channel; I've never actually seen it on anyone's TV. Looking up the reason why it isn't authorized, I learned that apparently it is authorized--though until around 2004, Fox wasn't on the approved list of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC--our equivalent of the FCC). I haven't had cable TV myself for about that long, so I never noticed.

You still don't find a lot of Canadians who watch it--I never have--and we also had a short-lived news network, Sun News, that got widely derided as "Fox News North" before it folded. Sun News had their own difficulties, failing to achieve a spot on basic cable, and it's possible I was conflating them with Fox. There are also legal challenges currently underway from progressive organizations who claim Fox News is a purveyor of misinformation.
