Who were you on the BB? I'm Aaron on the BB and I remember the ME "controversy." A tempest in a teapot if you ask me. I remember when the administrators "declared ME a heresy" like they were all that divine. and banned any member who espoused it or argued for it. I think I was moderating at the the time. I don't remember, but I was the lone voice against the decision.

JonC is the latest and longest reigning virtue nazi there. I may be getting a warning for this post. Moderators and administrators don't like their edicts questioned or debated openly, and even less privately.

The reason there are 45 different stripes of Baptist is because the people refuse to follow the man of God and it’s always the people’s fault and never leadership’s fault.

The key verse that many miss is Revelation 21:
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
What happens when a believer doesn't overcome? It's obvious that they will not inherit all things.
On the new earth, there will be those who will not enter into the gates of New Jerusalem.
Revelation 22:14: Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15: ;For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Colossians 1:21: And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

22;In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

23;If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Some won't be presented as holy, unblameable, or unreprovable.

That is not necessarily true, bruh.
Several times "the man of God" strays from the agreed upon Constitution and Covenant of the particular church he is leading, they ask him to leave, so he takes 1/2 the congregation with him to start his own "work" across town. 😉

I don’t disagree that there are multiple stripes of Baptists….as well as Methodist, Presbyterian etc. That’s not controversial although some started out of a controversy. The various stripes are of course tied to differences in beliefs.

The KJVO manuscript controversy dates back to the English Revised of 1881 but what passes for said controversy today dates back to Ruckman and his ilk claiming the 1611 KJV was "new revelation" and superior to the original Hebrew and Greek. That is a claim that many find ridiculous and lacking in substance. And the debate goes on and on and on and on….

But I doubt if the entire current debate began with Ruckman.
Seems like a rather lazy simplification of the issue these days.
However, based on what I have observed in my short sojourn here, such a continuation of this line of discussion would necessarily require moving this thread?

I believe that the KJV being superior to original manuscripts is akin to the earth being flat. That is just my opinion.

I doubt I can bring anything new.
The "older and better" position is like a guy claiming a Stanley Steamer is better than a 1971 Hemi 'Cuda.
But that's my opinion.
