So, was she saved? I’m like you I hope so. She may have not “looked” like she was to many but that doesn’t mean anything to me anymore.

As far as we know, she was a loving caring person who helped many people. Maybe she even had fruits of the Spirit. That being said, I know quite a few people who demonstrate love joy piece, longsuffering That are probably not saved. We have close friends that have this but I know they are not saved.

Bruh, I feel ya. I think the teaching of Jesus on “who is saved and who ain’t” can be helpful…

She mentioned Jesus a lot.

She was influenced at a young age by Arminian/Pentecostal theology, as such, I’m sure that her life of good works was a reinforcement of whatever she believed about God, heaven, Jesus, and the afterlife. I wouldn’t bet one way or the other on her salvation, but I usually figure that’s a fool’s errand anyway, unless somebody clearly expresses views that are anti-Christ.

If anything, her publicly stated beliefs reinforce the importance of renewing our minds.

Why not the liberality for those repeat the "sinner's prayer" at a crusade?
 
I used to use this signature a lot:

"I want to live my life in such a way that even the men will cry at my funeral".

I believe Ms Dolly truly did achieve that. When I die, if it could be said that I had even an ounce of her goodness, I will be pleased.

Focus man. I don’t make claims about Dolly’’s eternal soul, nor the Crusader’s or Franklin’s converts. That quibble was with the responsible presentation of the gospel. I rejoice wherever the gospel is preached.

The only person’s salvation that you can definitively know, is your own. I presume you are saved because you say so, but sometimes I wonder.😉

Well, after rereading his quote in the context of the conversation, you may be right. He may have very well meant that she, ostensibly and nominally a Christian, needed to renew her mind regarding the alphabet soup group. I’ll wait to see if that’s what he meant.
 
I was born in Cocke County Tennessee which is one county over from where Dolly Parton grew up. Even though I was Southern Baptist and she was Pentecostal, many churches in that region were very emotional. I was used to people “getting happy” and shouting while running the aisles. In this video Dolly talks about how she was so scared of hell that every time they had an altar call she would go down to the altar and she said she must have been saved fifteen times but never did. She then talks about how she went to an old abandoned church and had an emotional experience which she believes is when she was saved. The problem is, her idea of salvation doesn’t line up with scripture. I believe having altar calls after preaching on hell and playing emotional songs for the invitation can make some people associate walking an aisle and saying a prayer with salvation, making Jesus Christ nothing more than a ticket out of hell, and at the same time being deceived about being born again. The man in this video explains that he isn’t speaking bad of the dead but that many people need to know the truth and not be deceived by what Dolly Parton preached to a worldwide audience on what salvation is, which is universalism according to her.
