Knock Knock, Who's there?

When I was IFB I’ve personally knocked hundreds of doors. I’ve never seen a person get saved and stick around and grow or a family get saved grow or stick around and raise their family in church.

I’m sure they’re out there and I’m sure people on here have stories but I’ve never seen it personally. I’m sure there are people on here that probably have families in their church now that were reached from door knocking.

From time to time we have Mormons knock on our door. I sit and talk to them.
Several decades ago, I knocked on some doors in a neighborhood that appeared safe. My friend and I talked with a shy teenager who listened to me as I told her about Christ's love. Her parents were in the same room and sat quietly. She prayed, and I didn't expect to ever see her again.

About 3 or 4 years later, I went to a mega church that was having a concert. The hallway was packed, but the same teenager caught my eye and said, "Thank you for telling me about Jesus." She smiled. The crowd moved us in different directions, and I never saw her again.

She looked happy and was in the fellowship of other Christians. That encounter was worth more than gold.

In today's world with Ring cameras, etc., I think people may not be as receptive to a stranger knocking on their door.

I could tell you other stories about knocking on doors in Chicago and a guy chasing me with a machete, but I prefer to think about the teenager I saw years ago.

That's really cool about the buses and the way that politician was for the local folks. It also brought profit to your community as well. I imagine you have many tourists and high prices too. I bet you have a special testimony too. It sounds exciting.

That’s a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing.

mine is a complicated history/testimony.. ... more gruesome than exciting..... . . .i have written a lot about it on the fff over the years.... but i will make it short here....

i am not originally from hawaii... . i was was born on the navajo reservation in arizona... . but was saved on a church bus in california when i was 8... the friend from school who invited me to ride the bus to church with her led me to Christ on the way home..... .about a year later i was brought to hawaii by my natural sister after our mother went to prison and i had briefly become a ward of the state... my sister took me from the hospital where i was still recovering from surgery - directly to the airport... didn;t tell or ask anybody.. just did it.... . .. (probably couldn;t get away with that today)...

a little over a year after that my sister was murdered by her boyfriend... and through that event i found the family i moved in with and became a part of.... ..my sister had been saved a couple of years before she rescued me from california but was still attending a catholic church and that;s the church she took me too when she brought me here... and the one i still help out at occasionally even though i;m not and have never been catholic.. ...but i do have many saved friends there ...

the family i adopted after my sister died took me to a conservative lutheran church which i was baptized at and remained a member of until they became apostate - fully embracing the lgtb-qrsp and etc agenda.. .... that;s when i moved to the church i;m a member of now... .it;s christian congregational - but many of the people there including my hawaiian sunday school teacher are a lot more like baptist in their beliefs than traditional church of christ... in fact my sunday school teacher is a former baptist herself and was a direct witness to the japanese attack on pearl harbor when she was child... ..

I had to read that a couple of times. 1st time I thought you meant DeepSix & RunsWithScissors went apostate. 🫡After re-reading, I realized you meant the church went apostate.

That's an awesome and hard testimony. I think you have a book in you. Wow! I know a pastor in a Methodist church. Can really preach the gospel.

yeah... it was the church.... not any member of my family....:D .. ... in fact my dad (DeepSix)... attends my new church with me quite often... .. He has known my sunday school teacher for decades and actually introduced me to her........ my sister..(RunsWithScissors).. comes to church with me too whenever she's on the island and has time... .. but she has become the dedicated workaholic we both use to accuse dad of being..... they both had already stopped going to that previous church before i left it....

the church had done quite a few things that all of us didn;t like... .it had been making money on whats called "wedding tourism" for years.... marrying non-members of the church if they could pay the fee..... but the announcement they would begin performing same sex weddings as well was the final straw... ..
