    Mr Godfrey

I always thought that he was sincere in his beliefs and faithful to the mission of sharing the gospel.

Things once considered Sin and may still be.

Sooner or later, everybody gets old. But not everybody gets old in a Mercedes ;)

I believe the wearing of jewelry was the issue in which the Church of God and the Church of God of Prophesy parted ways over.

I believe that is a "sin" problem. Man is totally depraved. All of us. Even those professing to be "professional" Christians. It's sad, but true. Romans 7:24-25 "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the...

In addition to those items previously mentioned, I heard some in the seventies preaching against males using hair spray. Crazy times.

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." May we all keep our sight on Him who is blameless!

I guess he did encounter some controversy late in his ministry over the divorce. It was my understanding that his wife did initiate it and he never remarried, which prevented that line of contention some assert. His almost as famous son, Andy, has been (I think, purposely) vague about his...

Call me once brainwashed, but at the time, I didn't give it much thought. I just admired those men and I wanted their signature. I don't know, maybe it was much more strange than I thought at the time.

Forgetting that it's a Bible, is the signature authentic and not a print? Traditionally, presidential signatures have some value. The signature would have more value than the putative blessing 🤭

I really don't know how/when the Bible signing tradition began, but by the time I got interested in the early seventies, after the sermon and subsequent alter call, there would be lines of people waiting to get their Bible signed and maybe shake hands and actually get to speak directly to the...

My father, who died in 2019, did that for decades.

I admit that in the seventies I did it. I may have been a step below worship of those men, but I wanted a memento of sorts. Somewhere in my archives there is a Scofield Bible with the signatures of Jack Hyles, John Rice, Lee Roberson, Jerry Falwell, Curtis Hutson and a few others of whom I am...

Dr. Rice died in 1980, long before Hyles went KJVO. Dr. Rice was not of that persuasion.

I believe there were three watershed mistakes he made: How he managed his son. Just disastrous. How he managed his own life after he went to Hammond The secrets and sin he tried to conceal. Starting a college. It changed everything and not for the good.

Pensacola Christian ‘Cult’: inside the college shaping America’s private school curriculum

I remember hearing him in the seventies. I thought he was a very intelligent, mean spirited nut. Filthy.
