I don't think you do. I think you share a solidarity with what you imagine Palestinian Christians are thinking. In reality they clearly see Israel™ as the aggressor, and Christian Zionists as its enablers.
I agree that there is some really bad theology out there and I have heard my own Senator (Ted Cruz) butcher Gen 12:1-3 in order to justify unconditional support for Israel no matter what! I am not for unconditional support of Israel but I am for support of anyone who is fighting terrorism who wants nothing aside from seeing them wiped off the face of the map!
Thank you for the link. I will watch it but note also that I had "Palestinians" in quotations. There is no such thing as a "Palestinian" people and there was no established state. Why can't the so-called "Palestinians" exist in the land and be called citizens of the established nation of Israel? There is a significant muslim population who are Israeli citizens and are very pro-israel! Why can't the "Palestinians" follow suit? When the United States acquired the territories formerly belonging to Mexico, Mexican citizens retained any and all land ownership and were automatically granted US citizenship. Why didn't something similar take place with the establishment of the modern state of Israel?
What is different though is that there is an "Ethnic Connection" to the land which is something that is completely foreign to those living in and having little experience outside of the Continental United States? This is at the root of all of the generational wars that have lasted on for thousands and thousands of years and will continue until Christ comes!
And this is where we need to get really biblical here! In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, etc.... If you are a Child of God, you are a Christian first and our citizenship is in heaven. This is where we need to begin the conversation. If these "Palestinian" Christians are screaming "Death to Israel" (it appears they are not), then I would say they are not genuine Christians but just as lost as their fellow Muslim "Countrymen!"
Where I need to plead ignorance is that I know very little regarding whether the descendents of Israel has any sort of "Eternal Claim" to the land so I would exercise caution here. I believe Israel has the right to exist and according to my understanding of the prophecies in Ezekiel, they seem to line up with the re-emergence of the nation of Israel!
I believe that there is a future role for the Nation of Israel in Bible prophecy but I do not believe it is the job of "Christian Zionists" to see to it that such is fulfilled! Wherever you stand regarding eschatology (I am historic Premillennial), we understand everything culminates in the Valley of Megiddo when Jesus returns to Mount Olivet. He will confront all the armies who have gathered to make war against Jerusalem. This is quite clear but I have no interest whatsoever in seeing to it that this event takes place!
I disagree with the Dispensational Premillennialist viewpoint and was pretty adamant about this when teaching our Sunday School class today! I disagree with Mike Huckabee, with Ted Cruz, and with a significant portion of Baptist preachers who take dispen-sensational-ism to the logical extreme!
