Been watching, like you do when passing by an accident scene, with morbid fascination. Reminds me of the guy he’s replacing, classless. But about the fiasco, Saban said it best, “we don’t have a Lane Kiffin problem, we have a NCAA leadership problem”

Brian Kelly lost his mind somewhere between Cincinnati and Notre Dame. When he was at Grand Valley winning championships he never had to pay for a meal.

Interesting side story. He used to come to our town every month or so keeping in contact with the local football machine. Our pastor would have different things posted on the church sign and coach Kelly would stop in to discuss/debate with the pastor about the messages. Fun times back when he wore his pants like everyone else.

I have no respect for a football HC who leaves his team for another team before a bowl game. Kelly did it at Cincinnati, Kiffin did it now. Both are losers.

I’m going to go against the grain here for a few reasons.

1. Kiffin had an opportunity to double (possibly triple) him yearly income, with bonuses, incentives and added endorsements pushing him somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 million a year. This is an opportunity for him to provide generational wealth for his children and grandchildren that Ole Miss couldn’t provide.

2. His odds of ever winning a championship in Mississippi were low. Aside from Ohio State, maybe Notre Dame and another university or two, LSU is a top five coveted football opportunity. Young prospects just aren’t chomping at the bit to play in the state of Mississippi. It’s just a hard sale to attract 18 years old guys to Oxford, Mississippi.

3. It might seem cold for Kiffin to leave kids right as they’re heading to the playoffs, but remember that nowadays these athletes have very little loyalty due to the transfer portal and NIL deals. At the end of the day, everyone has to do what is in the best long term interest of his family and not make emotional decisions based on what’s in the best interests of others for just a couple of weeks of playing football.

Yup.

Kelly admits he never really believed in God.

😁😉

And now he’s probably going to go work part time for FOX or CBS Sports and make an additional couple million dollars a year.
Yes, it’s all about the Benjamins. 😎

He could’ve stayed at Ole Miss and proven that it can be done, “it” being a national championship. Now that would’ve been a legacy and a story for the ages that he could hang his hat on. LSU has already had Nattys, so even if he’s able to accomplish that personally, he’ll just be another man alongside other esteemed coaches.

He not only would have been able to command any salary that he wanted at that point, he could’ve demonstrated a position of strength as a leader, showing the players that relationships sometimes have a moderating or mitigating effect on placing the Almighty dollar at the top of the pyramid.

C’mon @ALAYMAN, you’re the same guy trying to convince us that we shouldn’t judge pastors who drive luxury cars and live in mansions. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. He took Easy Street in order to double his salary and have easy recruiting for championships. We’d probably all do the same—not that we’ll actually ever have to worry about such scenarios! 😉

true..... but i wouldn;t recognize him if he did... ... i never even heard of him until you posted this thread........ i don;t even know who coaches the university of hawaii football team anymore.... ..the last coach i rmember the name of was june jones.... .. and he abandoned the team and ran off to SMU for bigger money years ago...... wasn;t SMU the college whose football team got cancelled for several seasons for violating ncaa rules and paying players?.......... ...i guess they would have been right in line with every other school and the new trends today.....

Wait, I’m confused. Are you referring to Brian Kelly or Lane Kiffin?

isn;t kiffen the one going to LSU?.... he;s the one the cartoon was about.... but in all honesty is there a big difference in the 2 guys?......... they are both going for the money over everything else....... jumping the fences to go for greener pastures...... what will that teach the student athletes they have been hired to coach?....... ..... and in truth i wouldn;t recognize either one if he showed up on a news channel i watch..... ...and i probably change the channel if their careers were the news topic being discussed......

No, the cartoon is about Kelly. He’s the one getting $54 million for getting fired. Kiffin is the guy who quit at Ole Miss for more money and greener pastures.
