i think so..... but i don;t know for certain....... most of the people here with the more uncommon yet wealthy family names are related to each other in one way or another..... even though some like to deny it.....

Got a book called Stories of Long Ago. It is about how this family came to New Zealand and then Hawaii and ended up buying Niihau. They were aristocrats and still seem to be but the story, to me, is fascinating. Would have LOVED to have seen the islands back in the late 1800's!
 
They should consider renaming the Island:

Oahu becomes Obamu.

or

maybe renaming the volcano:

Kilauea becomes Kilobama.


or maybe both.

To most of our way of thinking; at least he was only screwing things up in Hawaii for a couple of weeks. Now he is unleashed to screw things up with the rest of the nation.

but i was thinking of something else............. there are a few coral heads and outcroppings of rocks offshore all around the island that are usually underwater at high tide or during periods of heavy surf.... .....but they stand up above sea level at low tide and when the water is calm..... .. ..

commonly known as shoals...... most are too small to be considered islands... even if they stayed above water all the time....... but they do have names..... especially the bigger ones that might pose a navigation hazard.... .... one of those might work........ ....... 8) [/font][/size][/color]

You could rename Lihue after Obama.  Just call it Hu Lie. 

 
even getting off a flight at the airport doesn;t smell the same.......but a few years ago the city fathers.... in their infinite wisdom...decided to move the main refuse and garbage collection facility from a lot next to the old fish auction blocks to a place just outside the airport on on the main road used to travel into downtown and waikiki.....plus they also made it bigger with no way to clean it.... ...

Is the place above the best place to name after him? 

Sounds like you describe Obamacare below...
