Alabama cops shoot homeowner during repo

The article linked is an opinion piece. I'm reticent to assign any validation to an opinion piece.

Proverbs 18:17: The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It's possible that things happened the way this "opinionated" writer (notice I didn't say journalist) says they did. And if so, there really will be some "explaining to do".

But there's always two sides to every story and it's possible that the man really did have an object in his hand that he refused to put down. Something must have happened for the tow truck driver to feel that he needed police assistance.

Decatur is a great little city, sitting on the banks of the Tennessee River and is a peaceful place to live. I hope this writer and the protestors don't taint the image of its police department before the facts can be known.

I’m not looking for a fight here, and probably just as loyal to supporting principles of law and order as most here. Likewise I hope this is ultimately found to be a case of yellow journalism. I first saw the story on a network TV news story so I looked online for some viewpoints that presented more balance. As of last night I couldn’t find anything that made sense of this. If it turns out to be accurately portrayed it just goes to show that there are too many Derek Chauvins and poorly trained cops out there. In this situation, why did the cops come back to this home and the assistance of this repo man (when he had already alleged to the cops that the homeowner brandished a weapon) in the middle of the night without lights and announcing their purpose and presence?
