Are you a Dem, Bob?
 
I'm in my 60s, and I have to say that though I'm not old enough to have participated in the old Democrat party, I know many in my family who were. My maternal grandparents were this type of Democrat, as were many of my great-aunts and uncles. My parents voted Democrat until Ronald Reagan. They stayed Republican from that point on. My mother is still a voting Republican. My biological father is a lifelong Democrat and politician.

I can tell you. Minneapolis has the highest number of Somali immigrants of any city in the US. It's because we have a really good program for paying immigrants to live free for 1-2 years after they come here. They make up thousands of her constituents.

Yep...they want to bring their country's idiocy to America. Wish we could ship them all back to Somalia where they belong. Sounds bad, I know...but, my wife works with a lot of them and they're some of the nastiest (I don't mean just personality-wise either) people she's ever seen. They're lazy and don't want to work, and everyone hates working around them.

Extremely lazy. They busted a dozen or so of them for abusing the State paid daycare system. Several Somali Women, supported by Somali men, opened daycares and were billing the state for children who never existed, but they claimed were being dropped off and cared for. Millions of dollars.

There are some here who were arrested for something similar. Wish the government would check these people out before they let them into the country.

My experience with Mexicans has been the opposite. Here in Minneapolis, they all work. And they are considered the cream of the crop in fast food and hotel management. I deal in huge numbers of employees as part of my job and the Mexicans are a vital part of our Minnesota economy.

All of the Hispanics I've worked with over the past 40 years have been extremely hard-working. The problem I have with them is that many are abusing the government benefits of EBT cards (food stamps), Medicaid (refusing to take out health insurance through employer programs), and many other safety nets afforded to people who are in need. I worked with a man who stated that he and his wife were divorced when they weren't, and he got two sets of food stamps for his family. They both worked at our plant. They also did this for Medicaid coverage for their kids. They also got free legal help from the legal aid society though they, like most of us other American employees, made too much money. So, for me it was a mixed experience. Now, when my wife and I lived in Granite Falls, Minnesota back in the early 90s, the Mexicans that worked in the beet fields and the processing plants there were good, hard workers, and they seemed to be quite honest people.

I believe so. If it weren't for some of the strange people in Granite, we'd have continued living there...but, then there was the lack of work available as well. Loved the little town, though. I probably could have gotten a job in the casino there.

Where I live, some of them are very decent and hardworking people, but others move into neighborhoods and turn them into areas that look like 3rd world countries in no time.

Two guys with whom I went to seminary pastored the same Baptist church there. Interesting.
