Who is an "ally"? A country we do business with? Do we have some kind of treaty that if some country attacks your ship, we have a green light to go and bomb them? Sorry, we are not the world's policemen. Defend your own shipping. As far as I am aware, they only attack ships who do business with Israel. Let Israel attack them. As far as "defends known terrorists", I don't, not even when it is my own country doing the terrorism. Nor do I defend Israel's murder of Arabs in Gaza (and soon, the West Bank).
Nope, not the way the US navy rolls. You attack a civilian cargo or passanger ship flagged by our allies then we hammer you, and if we can, destroy you and if we consider it a threat we take out the port as well. This policy is solid and I support it 100%.
If we see the houthis attacking a civilian Russian, Chinese or even the Cuban flagged ship I'm still for pounding them into the sea.
