To me, a video game is still a large consel in an arcade that you drop quarters into. Ms. Pac man, Asteroids, Tempest, Robotron 2084...

my dad still talks about pinball arcades when he was young.... none of which he was able to visit since he grew up working on a farm, and all the arcades were in towns far away..... yet today he;s my number one partner and competitor when it comes to the nintendo games i have that are made for 2 players.....

i don;t know if you watched that video i posted... . but it was actually an aprils fools joke.... . none of those "secret" things about nintendo he mentions are real.....

but as far as video games go.... . the nintendo systems i have now are considered primitive and archaic compared to modern computer gaming... most of which is virtual reality... and the graphics are so good they can be very hard to distinguish from reality itself.... ... in fact..... . recently a video was made off of a gaming digitial aerial combat similator system of a ukrainian jet shooting down a russian jet.... and when people saw it they thought it was real.... . the video even made it to the prime time news as evidence of a mythical ukainian pilot called the "ghost of kiyv" being real....

lol, I was on the way to football practice in junior high, walking through the neighborhood and passing the local mom and pop convenience store when I decided to get me something to drink before practice/conditioning. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of going back into the back room and hit "the arcade". That habit began to absorb more and more of my time. It turned into my own form of "Pacman Fever". One day I ad gotten so engrossed into the game called Scramble, trying to get just a little bit farther, past that one impossible obstacle and on to the next level, that I was late for practice. The coach made sure that I didn't retain any of the food/drink contents in my stomach lol, and I NEVER let video games become that kind of obsession ever again!

The original Nintendo Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt…still love them

the last video console i acquired was the nintendo game cube.... but after it malfunctioned
i pulled all 3 of my older nintendo consoles out and started playing them again.... (the NES
...SNES and N64)
.... and i have been playing duck hunt too...... but i must admit.... it looks
pretty strange on a huge flat screen tv in high definition......

meanwhile i have been collecting a lot of these youtube videos like the ones below... that give
detailed instructions on how to fix my gamecube..... i even bought all the special tools required
.... ..i just haven;t started working on it yet..... ..so far i;m still having fun playing all the old games
...plus i;m also looking at second hand 1st generation wii consoles as they can play gamecube
games... ......but my ultimate goal.. once procrastination wears off... is to fix my gamecube......
it will be my first excursion into electronic wizardry... and fixing something smarter than i am.....

Tecmo Super Bowl!
we had super play action football from snes... i liked it coz we could create our own teams
with our own favorite colors and name them whatever we wanted... . it was geared more
towards kids than adults.......

a lot of younger people i know who weren;t even born yet when the original nes and super
nes first came out say they like playing those old games better than tha new high definition
and ultra-reality games.... ..do you rmember this one?..... the nintendo jurassic park?.... ..
.. i played it for hours and days on end when it first came out... then rediscovered it when my high
definition game cube broke...... ..still what i consider high definition from that game cube is
nothing compared to what people are playing now one super big flat screens...

Yup I remember playing that one too.

i;m pretty sure we still have it somewhere in the boxes of video games i brought back from storage and that i haven;t sorted through yet..... we never threw anything like that away... .....but a few years ago i did pull out an old turbo-grafix 16 set with 6 games... and sell it.... someone told me the tg-16 was going for big money and they were right....she helped me with the sale so i wouldn;t get cheated and come away empty handed..... ..there was a football game with that console too but as i remember it wasn;t anywhere near as good as the super nintendo football games.... .... the best games we had for the tg-16 were alien crush... bonk the caveman... and a vegas casino game ... it all went together as a package deal....

.
has anyone ever seen this one before?.... it;s stranger than any computer game i have
ever seen..... . we don;t have it yet but i might get it coz i would love to play it and
figure this one out.... .this longplay video demonstration is amazing......

I grew up, not only with the classic 8-bit arcade games, but text adventures like Zork or point-and-click ones like Maniac Mansion. Onde looks like it's probably too abstract for my tastes. If I can't figure out from a video or Let's Play what's going on, I'll probably lose interest.

These days I'm more likely to be playing Horizon Forbidden West or Life is Strange, and of course Minecraft. Once a week a friend and I get together online to play old adventures (one playing and screen sharing, the other backseat driving). We're working on Parasite Eve and Clock Tower right now, and we've done Beneath a Steel Sky, Day of the Tentacle, and Grim Fandango in the last year or so.

i noticed the further i get into watching the longplaying videos of onde the more intense it gets and i get almost mesmerized by it...... i had to stop watching at one point because of the flashing lights in it.... ...that broke the mesmerizing effect but then i also rmembered the video did have a seizure warning on it....

but i am wondering now if i would enjoy it even if i had a game controller for it.... ..i have never done well with games that were played on an actual computer... especially ones that required keyboard usage or a mouse to play it..... the last one i tried with a regular game controller required using the mouse and keyboard as well... .... i couldn;t figure it out....

i never played the other games you mentioned but i looked at videos of them... and the horizon forbidden west game looks pretty interesting... .. it reminds me of the videos i saw on the newest tomb raider game... shadow of the tomb raider... it has intense action and detailed graphics like that.... ..i started playing tomb raider legend on the game cube years ago but didn;t get very far into it.... i lost interest due to how difficult it ended up being... .a least it was for me..... ..... the only games i have made it through and finished since the game cube came out were the legend of zelda series games..... . that;s the series i grew up with starting with the original NES 8 bit game... and then every zelda game and on each system that came after up to the game cube.....

but i did buy a second hand nintendo wii since i have been too lazy so far to fix my game cube... and i did buy nintendo skyward sword and also both endless ocean games.... . they are the only 3 games i have for the wii system and they look pretty good... but i haven;t started any of them yet.... ..the problem i have when i do start any legend of zelda game is i don;t want to stop.... and i end up playing for many hours straight... so i have to make sure i have that kind of time available....

It's similar to the Tomb Raider games in that it's an action adventure with a female protagonist and a lot of climbing/shooting/combat elements to it. Horizon Forbidden West is a sequel to a game from a few years ago, Horizon Zero Dawn. It's about a dystopian future where thanks to a terraforming program gone horribly wrong, hostile robot animals roam the earth freely and human civilization has regressed into several nations resembling non-nomadic, native American tribes. You might actually enjoy the games--your primary weapon is a bow, and the gameplay consists chiefly of hunting mechanical beasties. (You'll need a console a bit more beefy than that old GameCube or Wii, though--they're designed for PlayStation 4 and 5.)

those do sound pretty cool... ..i might have to find a way to check them out.... ..i know some of my friends have some pretty high tech gaming consoles.... they have teased me about being in video game retro world when i talked about the latest legend of zelda games.... i will see if either of them have them... ...that;s something i miss about blockbuster... we use to rent games to check them out then buy them if it was one we liked.... ... kinda hard to get a good feel for a game just watching it on youtube... but it is a good way to watch someone else play through one... ..i do that sometimes on a game i already played and see someone find something i never saw before....

Ever play the Vietnamese card game "Thirteen" (Tien Len) ?? There's now a PC version of the game and it's quite addicting.
