I believe the extreme right is just as dangerous as the extreme left. So many on this forum fled the IFB world for this type of mindset, but it can get more extreme. Is one actually better than the other?

It was his wife, not him. Regardless I have an older relative (I won’t name the relationship) who was one of the highest ranking members of the KKK. Members of his group are doing life prison for assassinations from back in the 80s. It absolutely does happen on the far right, maybe not in Canada, but it definitely has in the US.

That's not what I mean.

But first, what does it mean to be "extreme right"? At one end of the political spectrum is totalitarianism, and at the other end is anarchy.

People being fired over social media posts isn't a political thing or even a new thing. When I was on social media, I never stated where I worked, and I never friended a co-worker. The closest I came to getting canceled was when I said, Crooks are liars, in response to a George Floyd related post.

No, something is off with the Charlie Kirk thing. He was a conservative celebrity, like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh. I wouldn't have expected the flags lowered for any of them.

The instances I've seen are in professions where you should reasonably be able to expect equity and objectivity: legal aid, teaching, healthcare, government, and so forth. Their clientele shouldn't have to wonder if a public defender or nurse, who posted a TikTok video of herself dancing on Charlie Kirk's grave, is going to sabatage them because they happen to share some of his opinions.

People shouldn't be cancelling individuals because of something their wives posted. But again, it was the progressives who set that bar, for example, getting someone fired because of something his parents said before he was born.

Like they say: I don't make the rules. Saul Alinksy did, and one of them was to make the enemy live up to its own standards.

I happen to believe a democracy works best when there’s a well balanced mixture of opinions and viewpoints. Again, I’d point out the lifeline of this forum consists of people who fled the extremism of the 70s and 80s IFB culture in churches and a couple colleges such as HAC. Do you think that same mindset will be healthy in politics?

That's not what she was doing. She was basically intimidating her husband's employees and creating a hostile work environment.

Yes, that seems to be true in recent years, but that hasn’t always been the case, and my overriding concern is that conservatives not begin going down the same path nowadays. Civil discourse should be the goal. Do you not agree?

Sure, the same as Fred Phelps and the hateful rhetoric from the woke women in “The Squad” in Congress. I don’t think we’re disagreeing here.
