Ooh Rah (for my SIL)
I have another (former) Marine friend who now pastors who, when asked if he served  in the military, replies, " No sir (ma'am), I was a Marine."

I'm sorry, that generation came home and gave us the worst generation of kids in the Country's history.

No thanks, I'll go back a little further.

I'm inclined to agree with you except my generation exceeded their children in an immoral free for all and our children have taken our wickedness to new heights.

Correction: the terms "former" & "was" should not be used to when describing a Marine. You SIL is a Marine who is no longer on active duty. Once a Marine always a Marine. Ask those WWII and Korean vets if they are former Marines and see what they tell you. They will die Marines and their family will often show their medals to prove it. Some of those guys worked in factories for 40 plus years, after the war, but they will lead of with serving in WWII before they ever getting to what they did for a living. Marines through & through.

FYI
According to statistics released by the Veteran's Administration, our World War II vets are dying at a rate of approximately 492 a day. This means there are approximately only 855,070 veterans remaining of the 16 million who served our nation in World War II.

This year make an attempt to find a WWII or Korean war vet and thank them for the sacrifice they made for our freedom. Many still have nigh mares of the things they say and most still do not talk about what they saw.

I cannot definitively say if it was THE greatest but.......

During the 3-1/2 years of World War II that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941 and ended with the surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, They produced the following:

            22 aircraft carriers
              8 battleships
            48 cruisers
          349 destroyers
          420 destroyer escorts
          203 submarines
34 million tons of merchant ships
  100,000 fighter aircraft
    98,000 bombers
    24,000 transport aircraft
    58,000 training aircraft
    93,000 tanks
  257,000 artillery pieces
  105,000 mortars
3,000,000 machine guns and
2,500,000 military trucks

They put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, liberated  Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb and, ultimately, conquered Japan and Germany.

I guess many of them just did not realize that the devil was waging a spiritual war against their families.

I know all that, but printed  statements  have to be worded differently than  spoken words. I also put (former) in parentheses for that very purpose.

Also, it's a friend who is no longer  AD.
My SIL has nearly 10 years AD in the Corps, served a year in Afghanistan, has built schools overseas and is currently stationed overseas.

Yes, there was a domino effect.

And yes it has perpetuated.

They kicked it off.

The real great ones?

The teens who fought WW1, and were in charge in WW2.
The young men in WW2 only did what they were led to do.
Then they came home and quit on their families.
They remained emotionally detached, gave themselves to careers, and allowed their wives to do the same.

Nothing great about that generation, but the fall of Western Civilization.

Malachi 4:6

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children,
and the heart of the children to their fathers,
lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
