I asked where the rabid cessationists are, and Anikkolaymen showed up and foamed at the mouth....

No, you obfuscated, introducing multiple unrelated and irrelevant concepts into the thread, simultaneously refusing to answer one question I've asked you.  So again...

1)  Who has introduced PASTORAL authority into the discussion, except it be you?

2) What in Beelzebub's name does the concept of cessation have to do with being a Christlike example/mentor/tutor to young believers?

Peeerophet, like mater want to argue not against the Biblical concept of spiritual leadership or the office of Pastor in the local church, but against their experience of the dictatorial self centered self proclaimed man of god...which, I submit is the exception to the rule of Pastors as servant leaders.

Peerophet would like what happened at a friend's church over the past 2 years. A church of about 300 on Sunday mornings called a pastor who used his leadership skills and spiritual 'gifts' to get the church attendance down so it could fit into a house on sunday am. Now, that's what peerophet is talkin 'bout.  ;D
Yes, I've always said that the Gospel reduces growth.....Not!

You're next.  You haven't posted anything of value as far back as I can remember (which, admittedly, isn't very far at my age).  Only mockery.

Look Mater, I like you but have you looked at the other side of this issue, lately?
It always goes back to "abuse of authority" and Pastorial dictatorship. I am aware that some Pastors abuse their position. But MOST don't, IMO and experience.
Your position on churches and pastors is extreme....and wrong. We've been over and over and over this.....you me, Alayman and many others. Your confrontation with T Bone yesterday further illustrates your position.

Sorry, but I respond by illustrating the absurd by in turn being purposely absurd. I guess you may be forced to put me on ignore.
But, maybe Castor will come back and talk to me.  :)

He asked for a response from pastors, and when people who weren't pastors responded by saying what their pastors practices were he got snippy with them.  When pastors finally answered he ignored them and/or condescended to them that they were essentially making up stuff (lying).  The dude is a contrarian, particularly on this issue, and in denial.

WHO HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT PASTORAL AUTHORITY IN THIS THREAD OTHER THAN YOU????

You did. In fact, you opened with it...original post, first paragraph, last sentence:

"Notice how Paul wields the authority of one who has been delegated the power to command others to observe and learn from his life examples and teachings" - Alayman

True.  Some people think he's referring to his wife when he says, "I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me."

;)

One of you says, ?I follow Paul?; another, ?I follow Apollos?; another, ?I follow Cephas?; still another, ?I follow Christ.?

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?

This verse is the reason I used the "christ_undivided" username. I read this verse years ago and realized just how bad things were today.

The first commandment is probably the most overlooked of them all.  Our God is a jealous God.  We shall have no other Gods before him.

Jesus is saying basically the same thing when he says, 8 ?But you are not to be called ?Rabbi,? for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ?father,? for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

That's why I consider the practice of exalting a pastor of a church or saying "follow me" to be a serious offense.

Nope.  The authority I spoke of there is the authority inherent to every "man of God" via the word of God as it involves the people of God in community.

And it is this whacky theology that will mark you by any sound student of the word as a crank.

You can't even answer simple questions about the concepts that you fling into the conversation.  I wouldn't be questioning other people's IQ, or their integrity if I was you.

He just can never admit when he's wrong.  Even after you prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt.
