I constantly hear advertising on the radio for this “Christian health insurance” in the area I live. I'm not—thankfully—in market for health insurance, but the “ministerial” tone of the advertisements always strikes me as a bit odd. I’m not saying it’s bad insurance or a bad idea, just a little odd. Is anyone else familiar with this “Christian health insurance” program? https://www.medishare.com/

I know for a time, they didn't operate in Montana; don't know if that's the case now. I'm sure operating in certain states is more difficult than others.

I don't know if it's still the case, but those who have signed up had to agree not to use tobacco or alcohol.

Here's a link that describes the good, bad and ugly of Medishare. https://nebula.org/blog/medishare-review/

I found Medishare's website to be frustrating when I tried to get info from it. Typical of these kinds of businesses, all the easily found information centers around why you should join. It's one of those things you'd have to join in order to find out what you get.

My mom used it efficiently when she retired early at 59 years old to bridge the gap to medicare. I know of several others who have done the same. The article critiquing that niche industry which I read recently basically said that it was a useful tool for a select group of people who couldn't get good insurance through an employer or was too barely over the income poverty threshold to benefit from Obamacare. I have looked at it personally, in brief, in the event that I stop working to go into full-time ministry. My financial advisor, though he qualified his advice by saying that he had not fully looked into it as a viable alternative to traditional insurance, said that he knew several of his clients that successfully used it. And lastly, I had a brief exchange with a Christian fella 2 years ago who seemed pretty well put-together, not rich by any means however, who gave me first-hand testimony of how he had used it for himself and his family to great success for over a decade.

My daughter and son in law used one of the Christian Medical Sharing plans and it worked great for the years they had it.

Great... if you dont have preexisting.
I use SamaritanMinistries.
I went through cancer surgery (2018)... $200,000+

I paid ZERO

I had to keep track of all bills and submit them and keep it all in line...

I would avoid it like a fart at a party.
