Church "by laws" and "convenants"

The problem with IBT was that they did not follow the admonitions in Rom 13 nor did they follow Jesus advice to Render unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's and unto God the things that are God's.

Rather they confused who owned which.

Jesus held up a coin to illustrate his point.

IBT should have looked at the lowly dollar bill and taken Jesus advice.

Every congregation should be careful to pay deference to the head of the ekklesia Jesus.

I was reading through a churches "by laws" recently and I couldn't keep myself from getting "sad"....

First let me say..... If the New Covenant isn't good enough for you...... Then all the various "church covenants" man has come up with aren't going to help you. By the way... The "New Covenant" is MORE than good enough.

I know most of these documents are written for legal purposes to provide a means of controlling a congregation/pastor/elders/members to some point.

It is necessary to deal with various legal issues.  In our church we have the law -- the Christian Bible.  And then we got the bylaws to prevent any secular legal interference into church policy.  We are strictly Biblical on church matters, so there more than few issues to be covered.  Who can visit, who cannot, how to invite people, preschool and home/church school issues, member compliance.  And that's just to name a few.
