Years ago I read a little composition regarding an engraving in a foundation stone of a church building. The stone was to communicate the purpose and commitment of the church.

We Preach Christ Crucified

As the years passed ivy grew up the stonework of the building. Before too long it began to obscure the engraving on the stone.

We Preach Christ

Without anyone noticing, the unpruned ivy continued it's creeping march up the walls.

We Preach

The ivy continued its assault until eventually all that was left was:

We

I know that stone walls and ivy aren't popular architectural styles anymore, but attacks on the message of Christ Crucified can exist in any church.

While I was at TMC, an instructor told of the time at a church in Burbank CA when a dispute arose among the elder board about the refurbishing of a sign out front. This guy just went to the local hardware store, got some supplies and while the arguments ensued, he repaired the sign himself. The message he put on that sign ticked off a few of the elders though:

"Is the revival of a sign the sign of revival?"

If God was here, He'd tell you to your face, "Man, you're some kind of sinner."

Rev. Lovejoy was obviously one of those liberale, pink-tea sippin, panty waist preachers with lace on his breeches! AMEN.

Only liberales wear lavender shirts! I wonder if perhaps he isn't a closeted "Alphabet" type?

All that stained glass behind him, he is probably a Catlick and sucks on the Pope's ring!

HAAAAYAAAAAAMAAAAAN!
