Did This Christian School Do the Right Thing?

It t is the SAME situation since joseph, a JUST MAN , assumed Mary was involved in sexual sin. Per scripture, joseph  acted accordingly to not "out her" in order to  put her to shame being the "just" man he was. God later informed him otherwise and had a plan accordingly for them both
If you are saved. this two scriptural verses are totally straightforward. If not, I  expect this could be confusing. We know exactly how just men, including our Lord Jesus, handle these circumstances. And it has nothing to do with punishment, condemnation or shaming of anyone.

Not by this father of three girls.  ???

Who are these indulgent ones and where can I find them to give them some instruction? >:(
I believe I saw them taking communion at your church last week.... :P :P ;D  :)

I think that I can work out a compromise here. Let her walk but put a big red "A" on her gown. She gets to walk and the school gets their pound of flesh.

I didn't get to walk at my graduation. The powers that were decided to give me a beating for something that I did not do. They were giving out beatings to everybody just to make sure that they got all the guilty ones. I had had it with their blanket punishments and declined to participate. When they insisted I declined with more expression. When they continued to insist I ... Well let's just say they learned that it doesn't pay to underestimate your victim. I didn't get a beating that day or ever again.
Needless to say I have a rather low opinion of most "Christian" schools.

Well, I could be wrong - it's what I seem to excel at, looking over my life.

But Mary had not sinned; it was "just" of Joseph to "put her away"; in mercy, he was not going to publicly expose her. There were supposed to be, and there were going to be consequences of her actions (if she had indeed sinned). Joseph was wrong in his assumptions.

This young woman did sin, and there should be consequences.  However, assuming that she is properly repentant, I would fully support the school showing her mercy.  I don't know the people; I don't know the school. One can argue this from either side - if they let her walk, it shows great mercy, which is very Christian.  At the same time, others could say that they are not giving any reward to the ones who didn't sin in this way.  Others may accuse them of being "soft on sin".  Nevertheless, had I been part of the school board, I believe I would have sided with mercy and voted to allow her to walk.  Jesus was a friend of sinners; never condoning their sin, but not self-righteous, even though He was sinless.
