Donald Trump

Been happening for over two thousand years. For me since 1981. It is the core of the Christian faith.

No way the USA is going to rank above Jesus.

Who is morally upright enough to get your vote? One whose character and political policies are perfect and upright??
That person will certainly get my vote!!

Hallelujah

Ask your friends in the party. It's their responsibility to field godly candidates, not our responsibility to vote for the ungodly ones they do field.
Do you vote?
How do you choose which candidate?

You find one, let me know.

Not if 30% or more don’t vote for the Republican Party. They will at that point need to make a decision. They, being the politicians.

I’ll say it again, if they know you’ll vote republican no matter what they will continue to screw you. And continue to give corporate tax cuts instead of giving them to you.
Threw my vote away once when I thought Ross Perot would offer a change. I’m older and not as naive now.

Some inscrutable calculus involving party, policy, and personal character.

There are famous Canadian politicians, like the late Ed Broadbent, whom I personally admire for their integrity and patriotism, but couldn't vote for because of their affiliation (i.e. he was the former leader of the New Democratic Party, which was hardcore socialist).

On the other hand, though I'm a nominal Conservative voter, had I been able to vote when I was still living at home, I'd have had no qualms voting for their longtime Liberal MP. He was effective and personally a decent guy.

Though I wouldn't vote for the same guy today because under Justin Trudeau, the Liberals have drifted way too far to the left.

On the municipal level, city council is where the student council kiddies go after they graduate. A morass of dullards spewing progressive talking points. It makes no difference to me whether Ward 17 is represented by Tweedledum or Tweedledumber. No suitable candidates.

As to the question of who is "morally upright" enough to deserve my vote, of course no one is perfect. But you have to admit that "more than Donald Trump" is a pretty low bar.

It appears to me, you guys would benefit from Conservative policy. I only read snippets in the news but the liberals there, like the Democrat Party here have gone off the deep end of the progressive pool…i.e. MAiD.

And, I am no Trump apologist…he hurt the Conservative Party in Canada with his tariffs and his rhetoric. However, knowing what I know, I’d choose him over Trudeau.

No guarantee that the Conservatives would have an backbone on the MAID issue, though. By comparison, Polievre is keeping abortion off the table, as did Stephen Harper before him. Canada has had no laws concerning abortion since 1989, just like those paragons of human rights, China and North Korea. And our Conservative Party refuses to re-open debate over whether it should be re-criminalized. I have no confidence they would take a strong position on assisted suicide, either.

The problem with the CPC is that they're centre-right. They occupy the space the Liberals used to hold (centre-left) before Jubior Trudeau lurched them farther left. So there really is no true conservative party in Canada anymore. I am more centre-right myself, but the lack of a true rightist party means the "conservatives" are often squishy on moral matters.

Trump, at least, has backbone. I've said a few times that I spent the election campaigns arguing that Trump wasn't a suitable candidate, then spending his administration rebutting the nonsense his opponents were spewing about him.

Justin Trudeau, who is the same age as me, went madly off in all directions trying to be the good progressive. He made the rest of us Gen Xers look bad. At least he has nice hair, or whatever.

President Trump defends Christians being slaughtered. Listen to the forum political punit who doesn't believe Christians should be involved in political activity condemn this act of mercy for our brethren in Nigeria. He once again will prove that his talk of non-involvement in politics is just talk.

God raised men up in the OT who were pagan men and caused them to punish and bless His people. God put Donald Trump in power in almost a miraculous way who happens to be a friend to Christians even though he himself is hardly more than a cultural Christian himself. America isn’t a theocracy and President Trump will never bring world peace because only the Prince of Peace can accomplish that. It isn’t the role of Christians to take up arms to exact justice on evil but that is the role of human government and if God allows a nation to have the power to restrain evil then I praise Him for that.

I listened to that dear brother in Nigeria standing in the midst of Christians in his congregation who had been tortured and murdered crying out with a broken heart for someone to help them and maybe God has answered that prayer with a foreign power putting a restraint on evil. If the Christians in Nigeria took up arms to defend themselves against the horrible slaughters I have no doubt that some on this forum would have condemned them and said they should accept their deaths and quit complaining.

Donald Trump is a flawed man just like everyone on this forum is but even the good things he has accomplished in rolling back the policies of a party aligned with Communism will receive no praise, only condemnation. At the same time a man like Jimmy carter who opened the floodgates of homosexual perversion and activism from the highest levels of government, a man who claimed to be a Christian with the gall to say Jesus would have approved homosexual marriages, a man who fought like hell to put homosexuals in the classrooms of our children and defend them becoming scout masters in an institution that had always honored God and taught good citizenship is praised for his morals and principles. If Christians would pray for our leaders that God would change their hearts maybe we would see things happen we never thought possible.

Who do we bomb when Christians are killing people of other religions?
