Seven years ago today, May 15, 2007, Dr Jerry Falwell entered the presence of the God he faithfully served. It was at Liberty University that my wife and I learned to live by faith and trust God. It was the ministry and example of Dr. Jerry Falwell that gave me a thirst and love for the Bible. While at Liberty, I caught Jerry's vision; I felt his heart and sometimes envied his faith. There is not time to recount the lessons learned, the prayers answered, and the spirit captured under his influence and example.

He helped keep me from the extreme 'legalism' so prevalent at the time and taught me that it was possible to disagree without being disagreeable (something I often struggle to practice). I believe his influence will have a greater impact on the kingdom than any of his contemporaries.

All of this is, just MHO, of course!  :)

Man, I just watched a clip from his yesterday introducing Art Williams to speak. Dr. Falwell has such a pulpit presence. He was an incredible man. I actually asked myself yesterday how long he'd been gone. Thanks for posting this...

Most memorable moment, was when he spent several minutes with radio host Michael Savage, on his national show, answering a controversial question by clearly presenting the gospel, despite the ridicule from the False Jew, Savage.

Is that available anywhere to listen to?

The Savage Nation is the name of his website.  He used to have it archived.

I looked, found it on youtube (At least I think this is the interview you are referring to)

Michael Savage Interviews Rev. Jerry Falwell

Well done Bro Falwell, well done.

+1 I am so glad you modeled your ministry after Jerry Falwell instead of RLS. You turned out good my brother!

No disrespect to brother Falwell but I did enjoy the time Cal Thomas took him to task for getting sucked into the world of politics. Basically said that by making bedfellows with the Republican party Falwell had sullied his own reputation by aligning with the muck of the political right. Quite entertaining television.

No big named independent fundamentalist preacher at the Sword Conference holds a candle to him.

Cal worked for Jerry in the Moral Majority (the political organization Jerry started)...but was 'let go'.
Cal, a political commentator by trade, had no problems cashing his checks, as I recall... :)

Welcome! Hope you stick around and participate.
Always appreciated your even handed perspective.

This week, in the local paper, Cal came out AGAINST public prayers at local government meetings. Some of his reversals are hard for me to swallow.

Mentioning Falwell usually gets me out of the corner.  :)

15 years, two months, and four days ago today, Dr. Jerry Falwell committed the gaffe that he is forever associated with in the public mind.

I guess he's fortunate that he didn't live long enough to out-stupid Pat Robertson, who puts his foot in it about annually.

His dying words were sorry I never accomplished everything Ransom did...or became a Canadian citizen....eh!

There is no big name IFB preeeecher any more. I am of the opinion that once the IFB left Jerry, the death spiral of the IFB began.
Regardless, Dr. Falwell was a great friend and mentor to those who knew him.  I have never met a more giving or kinder man.  He is greatly missed.
