The Frank Garlock/Ron Hamilton family have been running Majesty Music for 50 years and from everything I've seen and heard, their administration has been above reproach. To hear of the trials Ron and his wife have been through and having addressed them openly, honestly, they have brought great grace and comfort to many. I have nothing but the most profound respect for them. However, they are human and as such, they're fallible. I'm disappointed by this tidbit about Mr. Garlock. Oh well. He's with his Savior now and I'm pretty sure he's abandoned that idea.
I never knew what syncopation was until I heard my pastor's son playing the cajon on our worship team. He's a master of it and I asked our bass player about it and he told me. It was one of those light just came on moments.

I've never heard anything bad about them personally. Nonetheless, the claim that Eph. 5:19, or any other part of the Bible, forbids syncopation is pure falsehood. It's right up there with saying you can't play certain chords because the devil owns them. Superstitious, pagan foolishness.
Martin Luther's original melody for "Ein' Feste Burg," the tune for "A Mighty Fortress," was quite heavily syncopated. The rhythm has been evened out over the next couple of centuries. Not because Garlock and his cronies got their hands on it; I speculate that the original rhythm was fairly difficult to sing if you weren't familiar with it.

Absolutely none inferred. I was expressing the conundrum I felt when someone can be so right on in so many ways yet their hermeneutic is so off.
I had the utmost contempt for the BOJO "Staaaaandeeeerds" of music as I was getting shed of my IFB legalism and becoming FREEEEEEEE but then came back and realized they truly loved the Lord and glorify him with their lives! They (Frank Garlock and Ron Hamilton) have written some great songs which I continue to enjoy to this day!
The worst songs from Frank Garlock and Ron Hamilton far surpass anything put out by Bethel, Hillsong, and Elevation these days and you can tell them I said so!
Perhaps I'll have our worship team play "I Shall Come Forth as Gold" with drums and a Hammond B3 and add in an interlude somewhere with a blistering guitar solo on my Fender Stratocaster! I bet Ron Hamilton would love that!

I would think that one's status with God has nothing to do with one's preference of music. "Hymns and spiritual songs" may mean different things to different people.
Having a strong faith does not mean that one is going to hate drums and guitars. And, having a weak or no faith does not mean that one is going to love drums and electric guitars.
I would think that one's status with God has nothing to do with one's preference in music. Different churches use different instruments and melodious styles to worship the same God.
