I think the SBC could become like the Baptist Union was in Spurgeon's day.  I think we will see conservative churches leaving the SBC.

We must always remain vigilant...until we cannot remain anymore!

It will likely happen regardless of what Falwell does. Even this guy feared it may happen about 4 years. https://baptistnews.com/article/seminary-president-fears-liberal-drift-in-churches/#.XNuly9h7mM8
I think it will be more than just social issues. Eventually even the essentials of the faith will be attacked just as has happened in other Prostestant denominations.  It will probably take a couple of decades though.

Do you guys not see how ridiculous this "conspiracy theory" is?

Nothing new under the sun.  This is a resurgence of what happened in the late 50s to the 80s.  Men were tired of the liberalism of the SBC then and withdrew and became IFB.  Today, the liberalism continues to erode the SBC, more men are tired of it and will depart.  The only difference being that they probably will not remain Baptist or become IFB, but will become non denominational.

I?m not sure you understand what is going on within the SBC...a a number of ?fronts?. It isn?t a conspiracy theory, it is real. If you DON?T know that, you probably shouldn?t comment on this subject anymore.

Why do you think ?they? wouldn?t remain Baptist?
I am certainly aware of the issues going on in the SBC, but that doesn?t change what I believe, preach or teach...which is what makes me a Baptist. Admittedly, I absolutely DO NOT want to be associated in any way with IFB?s....because of their past and sometimes current covering sin and, frankly, their current idiocentric  obsession.

I said 'probably' b/c the trend has been to move away from the name.  I sat in on an ordination counsel at the request of a SB pastor friend of mine for a Liberty grad.  He had no idea who John Clark and Roger Williams were, nor did he have any understanding as to why he is a Baptist.

So far, it has not been a problem.
I have been an IFB and I have been associated with the SBC.
Problems both places, but the choice to me is a no brainer.
But, that's just me. :)

I see your point, the trend of taking baptist out of the name has been ongoing...down here IFB's often do that as well as young SBC church planters.
But, a name does not a baptist make, in my experience.

As to ordaining young men, that is a trip...I have been involved with 5 ordination's in the past 10 months...4 were for old friends who are still IFB.
With 2 exceptions, I was not impressed with them at all...

The only way you could associate yourself with IFB's is by calling yourself IFB and by acting like one. It's just a short descriptive way of saying your church is Independent, Baptist and Fundamental.  Probably the majority of "independent", "fundamental", "baptist" churches don't call themselves IFB and some are already more like other Baptists such as in the SBC.

I agree with your post.
But in the context of the fff, IFB (right or wrong) has been clearly defined...and Id rather keep my distance.  :)

I'll try to remember that and when I respond to you I'll use my Bluetooth keyboard and move away from the PC.

So would that be called "IFB Separation"?

I meant I'd rather not be associated/lumped with the IFB's who have the reputation(s) of Schaap, Gray and even Smiling Tom who's biggest issue's include screens and Idea Day.
But, i'll post with you, eat and feloowship with you all day...just don't want to be officially identified with such.  :)
