Ferguson: Nothing says 'I care' like looting and burning local businesses.

i know you didn;t say it....... but you gave the person who did say it green karma and wrote this.....

You sir have a gift....

gift of what?........ not knowing the difference in origin between the name juan and the name jamal?....... or did you think it was funny because people with those names are all likely to have brown skin?.......... now who is acting like he thinks all people of one color look alike?........

Because I gave him karma? Dear lord that's rich....

I giggle at farts too, doesn't mean I want to produce them or be around them. Guess I should stop out of fear of being labeled a fetishist too.

My opinion based on FACTS.

Forensic evidence isn't faked or tampered with by officer Wilson.
The autopsy wasn't performed by officer Wilson.
The witnesses who's testimony lined up with the hard evidence weren't prepped by officer Wilson.
They all point to officer Wilson's testimony being truthful.

no contest on any of the above.....

His actions were justifiable, proper, legal....

major problem....... why did he not drive away when brown ran from his car and wait for backup?........ he said the man made him feel like a 5 year old in the grip of hulk hogan just prior to that........ but instead he exited his car with gun in hand.......

why a gun?.......because he had left another important piece of equipment back at his station..... his taser..... which he said took up too much space in his squad car....... really?....... i have seen honolulu cops wearing tasers and they don;t take up nearly as much room as he claimed.....in fact they are worn just below the gun by most of them in a tandem holster on the same leg......... for a guy who is 6'4" it should have been very easy to handle......

but all that aside..... what was he planning to do if he had to subdue somebody without his taser?......it;s kind of obvious to many of us he had already made up his mind he would just shoot anybody he couldn;t manhandle and couldn;t control.....and after reading his statement i believe when he got out of the car to face a man he already admitted he couldn;t handle alone he had already predetermined he was going to shoot him......

i don;t know if anyone on the grand jury asked him those kinds of questions or not...... i haven;t read that much of it....but it doesn;t seem like anyone here is even remotely concerned......... i don;t know what was in his mind but i do know there is a reason tasers are issued to police departments around the country... and while things might be different in ferguson in most other departments of you are issued a piece of equipment and you leave it behind....then a situation arises where you could have used it to save a life.... but instead a life is lost...... then you are held liable......

Facts are terrible things when they disprove your preferred outcome.
Sorry, but you are just whistling past the graveyard in this instance.

and what is the outcome i preferred?........ i said i thought it should have gone to trial... with a competent and dedicated prosecutor.... that would ask questions many of us would like answers to..... then a jury of his peers can decide the outcome....... but since no competent or dedicated prosecutor exists in ferguson missouri then yes you are quite right........ it;s all just whistling past the graveyard....... but whistling with the intent someone else who might have some influence in this regard begins to ask the same questions....and perhaps help prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future.......i know that;s what black clergymen in ferguson are doing..... they are talking about how what the community needs most is Jesus and the message of salvation by faith through Christ...... during the times i had the tv channels on watching all this i heard several clear presentations of the gospel given by these black leaders who were being interviewed.......... but every one of them was on cnn........ i didn;t hear that come across a single time on fox........ all i heard from there was how the facts are the facts and everybody should just accept it and shut up......... at least what i can gather from what they are saying while they are screaming and shouting over one another.......  ... i watched more of fox news in the past couple of days than i have in my entire life before this....... i don;t know how anybody can stand it..... half the time you can;t understand what is being said because people on their panels are all yelling at each other at once.......... it;s irritating.......

Again, the evidence seems to me, and those serving on the grand jury, to be overwhelming and they didn't issue an indictment. Our judicial system is based on the law, and facts.

I guess we'll just agree that we disagree....but the outcome is what it is....

that is fine with me .... as long as we can disagree without slinging personal insults... condescending put downs... or calling that those who disagree  "willfully blind".... in the past year we have been on the same side of things much more often than we have disagreed....... i look forward to when we can be again.......

Reading thru the thread, I couldn't find any personal insult I directed at you...the willfully blind comment was not in response to you, personally. The context of that was a reference to all of the testimony and evidence being made public. After seeing that, the decision not to indict is obviously the correct one, to me and most other people, at least.

Now, Sharpton and his ilk are agenda driven and are blind because they WILL NOT see.
If you're not one of 'his ilk' , I didn't mean you in that comment. :)

i don;t know that it would be any different..... or that a verdict would be any more trusted......

Then why are you arguing that it ought to have been done differently?

but it;s just possible that under cross examination some of the questions that still linger in the publics mind would have been addressed and answered...... and even if the final outcome was exactly the same..... meaning officer wilson was acquitted in a fair trial and ferguson burned anyway.....at least then it would be harder to say the authorities handled it wrong or acted with bias in favor of wilson.....

The aftermath of the Rodney King verdict belies that pollyannic assumption. The police officers got their criminal trial in front of a jury, and were aquitted. The people inside the courtroom had all the evidence, not just the edited video clip shown to outsiders in the media. Nonetheless, south central L.A. erupted in riots anyway, ostensibly because the verdict was a travesty of justice - no less than the then mayor of Los Angeles, Tom Bradley, declared it so.

but now we will never know whether the outcome would have been the same.... or whether citizens of ferguson would have more readily accepted a not guilty verdict after indictment and a public trial.... because both the possibility and the opportunity was taken away from them.......

There will be no criminal trial because those charged with determining whether an indictment should go forward found no probable cause why Officer Wilson should be indicted. It sounds like you want a criminal trial, not because the facts of the case justify it, but because it would soothe the anger in Ferguson.  Utilitarianism is not Christian, and Darren Wilson is not a means to an end.

[quote[and i was just about to say thank you for not making it personal ... or taking cheap shots and drawing false parallels... ::)........ [/quote]

I haven't seen anything to suggest that the parallel was a false one, yet.

do you really think that is a fair assumption to make?....you assume people in ferguson would react the same way to bad news as people in south central los angeles did... regardless of whether there was a trial or not?.......... what are you basing that on?....

Um . . . when I wrote my previous post, the riots began three days earlier. I based it on the facts of history.

Sitting around with the family and in-laws after the Thanksgiving dinner I listened to the younger generation (niece's hubbys) talk about the Ferguson fiasco.  The theme that was regularly repeated was "I'm with the rioters", a sorta "stick it to the man" mentality.  This younger generation is so disrespectful and bent towards anarchist mentality (or at least a radical libertarianism).  There's a basic distrust of institutions, like marriage, government, church, etc.  It's a radical autonomy that says "if it ain't my way it ain't no way", and it seems borne out of an entitlement mentality that expects to not have to be a team player and earn your playing time.  It all reminds me of a story the co-workers told me about one of my middle aged peers who was "corned" (a prank done by ornery kids around Halloween where they hide in some inconspicuous place then take a handful of shelled corn and sling it at passing cars, then run like a bat).  Well, my coworker was corned, and he saw the junior high kid wasn't running away.  So he pulled his car over and got out with a mind to grab the kid up by the scruff of the neck and take him to his parents to see that some discipline was meted out.  Well, the kid not only didn't run, but blurted out to my co-worker "well, whataya gonna do about it?.....come on old man!"  No respect for authority.  The Bible talks about such behavior, in the last days.

Good post Alayman.

So I'm guessing you two are going to acknowledge that America's founders shouldn't have rebelled against Britain?

I don't remember the part of history where Americans had fundamental rights recognized and protected by England.

It is really balderdash to try to connect the Revolution to Ferguson.

Oh, it's fine. I didn't expect consistency on this point anyways.

I didn't expect you to make such an absurd leap. Please connect the dots...

Patriots = Ferguson Rioters

A country where no one works....

You did not connect the dots. Patriots in 1776 worked. There is no comparing them to Ferguson.

What ever you do, do not call r2 obtuse, that bothers many here, for some reason.
Plus, it would be redundant!  :)

30k view: Both groups are/were protesting what they saw as gross abuses by those in positions of authority. Both reacted by destroying property.

But I haven't found many conservatives who really want to consider Romans 13 and the American Revolution.

Somehow I can't seem to connect this with the American revolution.
