Fire Dabo

As a Reds fan I still remember a couple years ago when the owner's (Bob Castellini) son said on air to a Reds journalist "where you going to go" to Reds fans when they complained and lobbied for a changing ownership because the team started with a horrendous record, something like 3 and 19. That schmuck just about caused a complete mutiny from Red's land. But, as a businessman, though the optics were bad, his truth had traction. That same truth might be the answer to your question. Who you going to get to replace Dabo and exceed his accomplishments? Prior to Swinney The titles, ACC and Nattys, were scant. Moral of the story imnsho, be careful of what you ask for.

Yes, it’s a big gamble either way (keep him or boot him out), but we live in a different time era in college football and he’s been extremely reluctant to adapt. Whether he likes it or not, the rules have changed.

I remember that argument being made to push Bobby Knight out, and Joe Paterno. What is dabo doing that is out of date?

Until recently, he basically refused to use the transfer portal; same with NIL. I don’t like those either, but the train has left the station at this point.

I see. Those factors chased 2 of the greatest, Saban and Krzyzewski. But their "principled" decisions were a little easier to make than Dabo's since they were at the Geritol stage of their careers.

College football(sports) have become semi pro ball. I no longer follow college sports.

You’re right about it being semi-professional ball. I’m not a fan of paying athletes, but the reality is, there have been athletes being paid under the table for a long time. I’ve read that the practice of illegally paying athletes might stretch back even to the 1950s.
