Five Reasons Calvinism is a False Doctrine

Nom while Calvinism Sotierology would be the best explanation of what the Gospel regarding a lost sinner getting justified before a Holy God, it is Not the Gospel itself
My post you quoted was tongue-in-cheek, as most of the people around here know that I have a long history of opposition to Calvinism.

Here's a clip from one of my heroes more that approximates my beliefs...

ALL of us though were born unto the Highway to hell before God intervened to take us off that route

Yup! Because what else are we being saved from if we were initiating the saving.
Who believes salvation is initiated by the lost?

Classic Arminiasm holds to salvation being totally our "free will choice"
Classic Arminians understand and acknowledge the doctrine of total depravity as it applies to Jn 6:44 so they do, in fact acknowledge that it is God who pursues and initiates our conversion. The big difference is that Arminians call it "prevenient grace" which draws a man to Christ and enables (for a time) to "choose" (exercise his or her "free will") whether to accept or reject the offer of salvation whereas Calvinism speaks of "efficacious grace" or an effectual calling whereby faith is a result of regeneration.

I believe that one may make a strong case for either position although I am solidly in the camp of efficacious grace.

There are many in the Reformed camp who refer to anyone not a Calvinst as being "Semi-Pelagian" of which I would adamantly disagree and will therefore come to the defense of my Arminian friends against such a misrepresentation. Semi-Augustinian is more fitting of a term. There is likely no "free willy" on this forum who believes that they were the ones who "sought out God" and "initiated their own salvation" which is the actual semi-pelagian position.

Thanks for saving me the time in making those very accurate and important definitions and distinctions.

Those who say "Whosoever will..." as if that will is free.

My point in taking exception with your statement was adequately dealt with by the Baptist Renegade. Not everybody who says " whosoever will" believes that they initiated the conversation with God. And that, is the biggest distinction of what makes one a semi-pelegian.
