HAC Honorary Doctorate Recipients

HAC Honorary Doctorate - 1975

Dr. Dennis Streeter - Doctor of Humanities

He has been the physician for the college since its beginning.  He has lovingly given long hours of sacrificial labor to the college family.
This guy is a creep who abandoned his family, and ran off with his assistant, and loves examining single college ladies ...
I hurt for his kids. I know them, and watched them as this happened.
They were and are decent people, and it broke my heart.

I don't know the inside scoop, on his marriage, but I don't trust him.

Of course, he was given the doctorate long before this surfaced.

Dr Viola Walden, Dr Marlene Evans.....How did Elaine Colsten not get one before these other two ladies?  She's been on FBC staff and church organist for over 50 years.  Like her style or not, she's far more deserving than many who've been named on this thread for receiving a HAC honorary doctorate.

Yes you are correct she is already giving all she has to the ministry and she is extremely loyal and honors would not cause her to work harder than she is now working.

Who decided on that one?

Didn't something else happen right about that time?

Yup! Schaap gave it to him just before all the news got out about Schaap messing up. They gave him the "Dr" title also because they were going to make him the president of HAC.

Oh no....Did you have to mention Elaine Colsten?  Somehow Grounded Grid is going to hear about this and drag his obsession with the Colstens over to this forum! ::)

Actually Mrs. Colsten and Mrs. Evans are very well deserving of doctoral degrees. Both have written books in their field and have excelled in their fields. Mrs. Evans because of her national influence on group of women, her writings in her paper and the books she authored.

Mrs. Colsten is deserving because she influenced many churches music programs, she authored a book, and her longevity of service.

I don't know if Miss Walden deserves one. She authored books but most were compilations. If someone knows of a book she independently authored they might list it here. I don't think doctorates are given for biographies.

There is no "they".  Schaap made the decision alone to give his best friend an honorary doctorate and an undeserved position...during the same time Schaap was sleeping with a teenage girl.  Proof positive that the honorary doctorates are cheap and of no value.

Some things make you wonder.....If JS was making such epic decisions at that time, then why did this one decision pass without the board/deacons questioning it.

Excellent question. BG Wilkinson claims to be a longtime deacon at FBC. This would also make him a mamber of the board of trustees.

BG?

...the bio of John R. Rice, The Captain of Our Team. Good book. Not a great book but an informational one.

Definitely a easy and relaxing read.
