I wonder how many of the honorary doctorate recipients have disassociated themselves with the school that gave them the doctorate, yet still go by Dr.?  Maybe a few of them have other doctorates (honorary or earned) that gives them the privilege to use it.  But what about those that got them from HAC and now want nothing to do with HAC? Do they still use the Dr.?

I am thinking of Dr. Dean Miller from Colorado and others.  Maybe he has another doctorate from somewhere else?  Just curious.

I suspect many who distanced themselves from HAC were actually pulling away from Schapp & his ideas. Most would still identify with Jack Hyles & his era.

I don't know if Miss Walden deserves one. She authored books but most were compilations. If someone knows of a book she independently authored they might list it here. I don't think doctorates are given for biographies.

...the bio of John R. Rice, The Captain of Our Team. Good book. Not a great book but an informational one.

Definitely a easy and relaxing read.

It is an easy read. But do they give doctorates for biographies.

In the JRR biography she uses the phrase, what an example to us all a bit too much.

Ray Young
Former President, Hyles Anderson College

I actually think this is a good choice for a doctorate. As an assistant pastor in charge of the bus ministry he definitely excelled in his field. He wrote a book on the bus ministry and several other books.

I think this one is valid.

Pastor Tom Neal (Retired)
Berean Baptist Church, Orange Park, Florida

Don't know.
1. Can't think of a book he authored.
2. He did publish a paper with plenty of original articles.
3. Was he a leader in his field?

I think the juries still out on this one. Bro. Hyles once said that a preacher should always run HAC. Stuart Mason was a pastor.

I would think that they gave SM a doctorate to give their president credibility.
When is a doctorate a requirement to be a college president? Most college president are only there to raise money.

He's a good man who was given a horrible situation.

I believe this one would be valid.

Dr. Eric A. Capaci (1999)
Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs, AR.

Although I am not a fan of this guy at the present, I think it was valid at the time.

George Godfrey (1984)

I'm in the balance on this one.  HAC definitely promotes soul winning (in their own way).  Godfrey is the soul winners soul winner.

Not a fan, but I suppose it was valid at the time.

Definitely valid.

This one would fall in the same category as Godfrey.  HAC is all about the bus ministry and Ray Young is probably in a category by himself.
