First of all, there are alternatives:

Second, Republicans, as a foundational principle, consistently argue for the rights of local elected leaders to govern themselves. But when it came to Charlotte doing just that, they grabbed the controls from the locals and railroaded the decision within a half day, not giving the opportunity for debate or potential protest.

Third, North Carolina now has no legal protections to prohibit businesses from refusing to serve whoever they want to refuse, gay people and potentially people of another ethnicity. Any privately owned business is now allowed to refuse service to someone because of his/her sexual orientation.
This law has stripped LGBT people of the rights enjoyed by those of us who aren't.

FWIW, my comfort level isn't at issue here. I would be uncomfortable for my kids on a motorcycle but I certainly don't believe cycles should be outlawed.
