Have you ever personally witnessed the Northern Lights?

Yes. Twice.

First time was in Troy, ID. It looked like a red glow in the night sky.

Next was some 20 years later. I was commuting between Pendleton and Milton-Freewater OR in the wee hours of the morning on the first day of spring in 2000. It looked like I could see the glow of the city lights of M-F but I was still too far from the town. It was then I realized what it was.

Yep. In northern Ontario, the summer of 1991, as I recall. Not even that far north--just along the north shore of Lake Huron.

My then-girlfriend lived out in the middle of nowhere, so there were no city lights, and we happened to catch the display in her back yard when I was visiting. It was pretty much as the illustrations depict: a shimmering curtain of green light in the northern sky.

never seen the aurora borealis in person... only on live stream videos.... ... .. but 3 other
members of our household have seen it.... 2 of them have also seen the aurora australis..
. the southern lights... and they all said it was an awesome experience.... i have always
wanted to see it but never wanted to go to the cold places where it is common....🥶

but if something happens in the atmosphere that makes it visible from hawaii that will
definitely be front page news.... . - here is the live feed i was talking about.... it comes

from norway.... have to wait until it;s nght time with a clear sky here to see it... but
it;s pretty awesome even through mild overcast... and even on a video....

Have made several trips up to Canada but not recalling if I have ever seen them. I was there mostly in the Spring/Summer though. Don't they occur more often during the winter?

from what i understand they occur at both polar regions year round... . but they are only visible at night - and only in the winter coz that;s when there is darkness at each pole... .. and not visible during the summer coz the sun never sets then.....

on a side note.... winter is also when the infamous and much over dramatized hole in the ozone occurs at the poles..... ozone is made by incoming ultraviolet rays... ..or sunlight.... the more direct sunlight the more ozone.... ....and ozone can;t be made by ...nor is it needed to filter out.. .. what there is not any of in the first place..... ..

the auroras and the ozone are made by different kinds of solar radiation..... but scientists and democrats will never admit to facts that don;t support their narrative - that only socialism administered by them, can save the planet from what;s not going to happen .....

but anyway.... sorry for the brief hijack...... i love studying solar stuff..... ☀️😎

Yes, several times. Here in Minnesota, they show up fairly often, and a lot if you're in the "way up north."
