Let's us get to the core of the argument. Does the Christian liberty allow you to go watch, and enjoy, a movie like Striptease with Demi Moore? Or, Showgirls, Pulp Fiction, or American Psycho? What about Lolita or The Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields?

Most of those are controversial even for non-Christian standards.

All this debating and going back and forth over films with small amounts of nudity or sexual content. What about films like the above?

What about them?

I'm not interested in Striptease.  Didn't see it.  I saw Showgirls - I don't remember why, since it's not a movie I'd like.  I like Gina Gershon, but it was an awful movie.  I saw Pulp Fiction.  Outside of some clever banter, I thought the movie was awful.  I saw American Psycho, and it REALLY disgusted me.  I couldn't watch the whole thing, and I wish I could scrub that part of my memory clean.

I haven't seen Lolita or The Blue Lagoon.  Not interested in them, either.

I read Lolita in college (it was required).  I don't remember any of it except the play on words "the rapist is a therapist, it's just a matter of spacing", or something like that.

I'd advise against seeing most of those movies strictly because they were terrible movies.  I don't think one needs a scriptural reason not to see them.  They're just plain awful on their own.

So you would only advise against such films based on their production? Not the moral implications?

It's not my job to tell Christians what movies they should or shouldn't see.  Think of it like product labeling.  Labels inform the prospective customer and let people make their own decisions.

Obviously, you have different hot buttons than I do.  To your own master you will stand or fall.

I have my own hot buttons.  I won't watch Noah, because from the descriptions I've read, it makes a mockery of a true Bible story.  But I watched and enjoyed The Life of Brian.  There was one scene where Brian is preaching that you don't need to follow anyone.  Outside of that, there was no mockery of Jesus or Christianity that I recall.  In fact, the writers in the Monty Python group said they intended to mock Jesus, but after reading the Gospels, they couldn't really find anything to poke fun at.

I wonder if Timmy struggles with lust and nudity, and maybe that's why he likes to talk about it so much?  I'm embarrassed for him, and if I were his wife, I'd be furious to know that he was talking about the subject matter in a mixed group.  Save it for the mens confession small group.

Yes, he obviously has issues.

You seem to advocate not listening to sound advice from a brother in the Lord.

Proverbs 19:20
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

I'll gladly listen to GOOD advice and accept GOOD instruction.  You're just under the mistaken impression that you're giving GOOD advice.  All you're doing is airing your neurosis about sex.

Let's run with this theory.

So the obvious solution is to belittle him and call him names while posting actual pictures of fully nude women.  That makes good Christian sense.  :o

Only on the FFF can such idiocy pass itself off as substantive forum conversation.

I didn't post any pictures, so don't preach to me.  Save it for your obsession with Tomato.

Well, since you didn't do it then it obviously doesn't exist.

Listen.

Sexual perversion is primarily a mans problem.

Those whose harp on skin? And IFB? Are usually pervs by there own nature.

It doesn't exist now, since webby took it down.

Tim, the one you and vegetable boy claim has a lust and nudity problem was subjected to it before it was taken down, and TRT cast it before somebody who he admits he believes has problems.  Real charitable and mature.  But go on defending the real weirdo.

That even made the monks laugh!
Given your history here and the previous incarnation of the FFF, I'd rather take the advice of a chimp.

I didn't defend anybody.  Just because I don't disparage Tomato and I don't prostrate myself at your wisdom doesn't mean I am defending/supporting either one of you.  You both can stand on your own two feet.

Lust and nudity problem?  The pictures I posted were fine art.  And Ransom says fine art isn't nudity.  And since fine art isn't nudity, I did not post ANY pictures of nudity.

While I can't/won't recommend it to my Christina friends (here is where the stumbling brother thing kicks in) it did have some incredibly funny scenes. The "what did the Romans ever do for us" scene is classic and would be as familiar as the witch scene in The Holy Grail if it hadn't been in this particular movie.

Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Attendee: Brought peace?

Reg: Oh, peace - shut up!

Well it sure seems to be a problem for IFBx pastors and so called Men of God.
