Hey Admin, how are these spammers getting into the Fighting Forum?

A couple weeks ago, Ransom made a post about this. I think he said that they are probably bots. I still can’t figure out how a bot can make an account and post a message, but apparently it can be done. It’s a shame though, because they’ve basically taken over.
 
I'm sure a few get through without approval, but most of them wind up in a queue. It's obvious from the registration form that it's being filled out automatically--to the point I can spot the spammers by looking in one place.

We're especially under attack right now. I blow away spam (and spambots) when I see them. Fortunately it's possible to ban the user and delete their posts and threads with one or two clicks.
 
Hey Admin if this situation with these spammers does not end, they will flood this site and kill this forum like they did in the past. This is getting ridiculous
 
Just to give you an idea of the scale of this spam/denial of service attack, this thread currently exists on page 117 of the Fighting Forum. There are 20 threads listed per page. You do the math. With one exception, the 2000+ messages posted more recently are all spam. And that's just this topic.

To see all this destroyed is tedious--not how I expected to spend lunchtime--but, if I may say so, immensely satisfying. Hope it was worth your time, Sanjit.
