How Should A Church Hire A Pastor?

What procedures should be followed?

What questions should be asked?

We have pointed out many failures in ministry here on the forum.  How would a church avoid all of these pitfalls to ensure that they have a pastor that will lead in the direction that the church is wanting to go?  How should the pastor be found, and how should he be vetted and how should he be voted upon?

Why should an assembly hire a pastor?  Maybe you should get an answer to that, first.

I chaired the pulpit committee that brought our current pastor of 12 years.  Lots of care must be taken to ensure the man's character matches his resume, and fits the church theologically, aligning with I Tim and Titus of course.
