It's a bribe which is wrong. Always do what is right. I was lost for a few days thank you for helping me back on the forum. My computer updated and knocked me off.
 
Demon-crats - vote for us and we will give you something for nothing - free college, free healthcare, free child care, free busfare.

Republicans - vote for us and we will give you something for nothing - $5,000 for everybody.

(Oops, the Republicans are already backing off on this - J D Vance says that the rich will not get $5000. So I get nothing - bummer).

I hear ya. I live in SE Washington, in a fairly conservative district. Sadly, Washington's population center, King County (Seattle) drives Washington politics. I work in Idaho, where if you're planning on carrying out a shooting, someone will likely be shooting back, but libs are currently pouring $$$$ into the state trying to change the state constitution and reinstate abortion.

If we’d stop spending money on these forever wars we’d get all that. And it wouldn’t be free. It’s our tax dollars. We’d be getting back what they take from us.

Tariffs are the reason why republicans carry on the American tradition of irresponsible deficit spending? I wasn't aware of that. But even if tariffs were to increase revenue to any measurable extent, pouring it into the economy would have the same inflationary effect that the Covid money did. Probably worse because it is significantly more money. Nothing conservative about the plan. Of course Mr. Trump isn't a conservative.

FWIW I don't believe that there are any fiscal conservatives left in either party.
