It has nothing to do with any spirituality. It has to do with going with one's moral compass. Even plenty of atheists did the same thing and it certainly wasn't out of spirituality.
And yet, the rumor persists that Trump is still President and will be for 4 years.....
Maybe so. But I will not have to face myself in the mirror and see the man who willingly voted for an admitted sex offender. You know the one: the predator representing the "moral" party of most Evangelicals. In reality, there is a part of me that is glad the results came out the way they did. The heart and TRUE moral compass of most Evangelicals is on display, despite their piety and their reasoning of "...but abortion!". No wonder Predator-in-Chief is so scared of the press as are many who voted for him. Exposure on him will result in exposure to his voter base (in general).
The position of our country 4 years from now will be very telling. I hope I am completely wrong in how I see it at that point. Regardless, I believe Thomas Merton was right when he said, "I find Him (God) by hiding in the silence in which He is concealed." So let the raving of "the moral party" continue to drown out the voices of the marginalized. I have faith in their being silenced and being their voice, I will find the one true God, not the farce god being displayed through means of pride, power, and silencing the hurting, marginalized and poor. Not the one who splits up families, builds walls to "keep predatory immigrants out" while doing away with laws that "keep predatory companies from polluting our water systems". Not the one who mocks those who are disabled. The Republican party is showing me which god is not real and they are doing so on an almost daily basis.
So go ahead and mock me. Call me a fearmonger. Call me a "liberal socialist". Make a mockery of people, not just positions, with which you disagree. The truth about individuals doesn't matter to you anyway. All it does is throw more light on the heart and true god of your politics. It is a god I cannot and will not worship. (And there, my friend, I just DID spiritualize it.
