Is Blue Oyster Occult?

Reposted for your reading pleasure from May of 22:
Who was around when this book was popular? I was stationed in Pensacola, attending PCCCC when I got on the anti-rock bandwagon and destroyed my rock n roll cassettes and began to listen to the wholesome sounds of WPCS as part of my service of devotion to the Lord. At the same time, I had begun as an AWANA leader. I attended a regional leader training in Panama City where the keynote speaker began talking about how rock music was ruining young lives with its seductive lyrics and beat (quoting heavily from the aforementioned book). He then began to bring up as an example, Blue Öyster Cult's song, Don't Fear the Reaper, citing nearly every lyric in the song decrying how it glorified suicide. Of course, I was very familiar with the song and since I was going through heavy rock n roll withdrawals, guess what song was stuck in my brain for the rest of the day? I remember nothing else from that conference other than the seductive guitar solo and the cowbell... must not forget the COWBELL!
