i know..... but do you really think trt wouldn;t mind seeing his wife or daughter play a sex scene in a movie?..... ... i have known people who would have not only been ok with it.... but who put their daughters into much worse.... and trt doesn;t strike me as being like that.......

I don't know.  If I had to guess, I'd say he wouldn't, but the question is rhetorical.  The moment he says "no" then he shows the bankrupt nature of his worldview (regarding entertainment/art particularly) and that he is a hypocrite.  If he answers the question "yes" he will be seen for an even more disgusting cad.  The point is that the sex scene he is defending is indefensible, and the question of whether he would have one of his loved ones play in it exploits the weakness of his abstract argument and licentiousness.

Timmeh has played the clown for so many years, it's really hard to take him seriously, or even consider him a student of scripture worth listening to.

The question is why do I continue to entertain company here? I realize I have become the jackass of posters, but most know I am harmless I assume. I just came back from lunch and had a long ponder regarding my postings this morning. I shared much of what I have come to know/believe through my experience within Christianity - growing up Pentecostal and then moving into Baptist. It is what I see when I read the Bible. But, I also find the challenge up against my doctrine curious and the fact that i can't defend it even more so.

Nobody should take me serious  since I can vouch for myself - I am somewhat a confused man. I am surrounded by confusion. Noise. But I also want to be proper with my relationship to Jesus Christ.

Maybe some of you are right. I am just free in Christ and need to let go. But. That seems dangerous.

Tim, it's okay to ask questions as you grow.  Some people focus more on ad hominem than others, taking delight in feuds and squabbles more than learning. teaching, and sharing.  It's all good.  Just do what you've said in sincerity, try to please Christ and grow in faith and holiness, without hypocrisy and judgmentalness and you'll be fine.

is that why you refused to answer the question i asked you the other day?........ concerning how you would feel if a friend with an old world puritans convictions concerning dress standards or a muslim friend of yours told you your wife and daughters were dressing like whores?........ ..... what if he told them such a thing directly?........ are you afraid of what an answer either way might reveal?....

I told my pastor long ago that if he used language like Bob Gray, referring to women as whores, hussies, or similar language (particularly relating to dressing in pants and such) I would find another place to worship, so I would recommend that same course of action for anybody that sits under such preaching.  Having said that, I don?t think that it is inappropriate to teach through a book expositionally and deal with the topic as it arises in context.  So to mention that there is a way that women seduce men with their appearance and ways is an appropriate topic.

and for the record... i don;t defend sex scenes in movies ..... i believe quality screen plays can be made without them...... i believe they could also be made without much of the profanity that is used in the them too..... without the graphic violence.... .. and they can certainly be made without the junior highschool locker room humor dead pool is full of..... ..... ..... but we live in a shock seeking culture today....... people expect to be shocked and walk away disappointed if it doesn;t happen.......

I never said that you defend that stuff.  I?ve already clarified that, so I?m not sure why you are bringing it back up.

and that shock seeking culture is also present in the church.......  dukes of hazzard ran for how many seasons back in the late 1970s?........ yet here it is 36 years later and preachers still use words and phrases picked up from that show and toss them into sermons describing something young women in their church might wear today and refer to them as dressing like whores because of it........

what is that if not something simply done for shock value?........

Asked and answered. I don?t defend the idea of calling women whores because they dress in Daisy Dukes.  I do think those shorts are often immodest, and I don?t apologize for that.  Are there some people that cheapen preaching by using undignified forms of blunt communication?  Yep.  Are there some that view it as entertainment?  No doubt.  But you don't see me defending that sort of stuff, nor do I feel the need to defend it.  Having been exposed at the periphery of the HAC movement to some of that stuff I've even wrangled with folks from there trying to point out those sort of deficiencies, but at the end of the day all I can control is how I preach, and who I subject my family to.  And we don't sit under that sort of preaching, or hold it out as the right model for the ministry of the word.

But more to the point of the post you responded to, we have a poster that is putting full nudity on the forum.  We can haggle over definitions of modesty til we?re blue in the face, but TRT continues to incessantly press inappropriate boundaries to their limits.  It is an extension of the same bankrupt mind that watches Deadpool and sees nothing wrong with it.
