How about another experiment.  Why don't you guys print up this thread the gz thread and let your African-American friends ( I know you all have some  ;) ) to read it.  Choose some "friends" that are not affiliated with the IFB churches (It should be easy).  Watch their facial expression as they read.  Ask them what they honestly think about the exchange.  Then invite them to come and post their opinion of both threads on the thread.  You may be surprised.  :o

CU I actually may have lost a friend over it yesterday.  But a friend who is not willing to empathize is not a friend at all.

BC you are the only one talking about being a victim.

You shouldn't have lost a friend over something so trivial. Friendship works both ways GT. BOTH WAYS. Just because you're unwilling to have a friend that doesn't have a "black guilt" complex, doesn't mean your "former friend" isn't right. You're really wallowing in this.

I don't expect you to agree with me. I do believe you should respect the opposing view. I have grown extremely tired of blanket racism charges being thrown around. I'm not going to pull any punches and tell you its all everyone else's problem. Deal with your own. We all have problems. We all have problems with interacting with various cultures and personalities. I have it. You have it. Don't pretend your perfect and beyond reproach.

Your attitude reminds of those in

Luk 7:32  They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

Your comment is patently insulting and condescending.  I am no where near a child and have no guilt complex.  I have no problem with the guy being wrong but I think he may have a problem with me.  I have never stopped being anyone's friend because we disagree.  I have endured insult after insult on this forum and I am still here.  Since I know who and what I am your comments are disappointing but not totally unexpected at this point.  I have not once that I can remember assaulted your character.  I have dealt with the subject only.  You have not afforded me the same courtesy.

I never said you had a guilt complex. You expect white men to have a "black guilt" complex. 92 percent of all crimes against black peoples are committed by their own race. 92 percent. Its not open hunting on black people in America.

You have lied. I have called you on it. You're living in a Al Dullton dream world.

Just because you haven't called me a liar doesn't mean you haven't insulted me. Your charges of racism insult me.

Fine.  Maybe I am using "victim" too much.  However, I am against the mentality that we are who we are because of our skin tone.  I am against the mentality that we are who we are because of our upbringing.  Christ makes us a new man and the Holy Spirit gives us a new heart.  We are God's children now, not the children of a social strata.  I am against the "Us against Them" mentality that is being promoted across the airwaves.  We are all Us.

I choose not to post on the Open Season thread because the original statement calls for wanton violence against humanity.  Look, telling people to go hurt themselves or others is wrong.  It matters not if it is an anonymous poster on a predominantly religious thread or a professional athlete tweeting his emotions.  Declaring that one person should be beaten or killed or raped or otherwise harmed because you think they did not receive as harsh of a punishment as you believe they should is wrong.  It matters not if you are discussing a Latin security guard or a white preacher or a black activist.

If we want society to recognize all segments of society as one people, the transition needs to begin by no longer identifying ourselves as segments of society.

Conduct the experiment BC and ask your "friends" if their being African-Americans plays any significant part in they way they are treated and expected to interact with society.  You might be surprised.

You are playing the victim card.  You expect people to treat you a certain way which determines your actions.  Some call this a "self-fulfilled prophecy."  Try reading Condi's book that I suggested earlier.  I cannot identify with where she came from.  In fact, most people today cannot identify with where she came from.  She was close friends with some of the most active activists of the era.  Yet, she has a paradigm that is vastly different and has worked very well to overcome hurdles of a sinful, segmented society.  Your view of the world around you needs to shift before the world around you shifts their view of you.  This is not just true for race, it is true for any bitterness or any social strata.  After all, if a man hath friends, he must_______________________.  Or is God wrong on that?

I have no shortage of friends BC.  I also have no use for "friends" who refuse to acknowledge as valid the A-A experience and perspective.

SO WHO COMPLETED THE EXPERIMENT?

I don't give a crap about the A-A experience anymore than I do about the G-A experience or the A-NZ experience.  I care about content of someone's character, not the color of his skin.

I understand and people like you are not useful to me as friends.

HOW ABOUT THE RESULTS FROM THAT EXPERIMENT?
I understand and people like you are not useful to me as friends.
Wow....

Thank God my friends don't evaluate our friendship based on how "useful" I am to them.

Thank God my friends do not discount or declare invalid the experiences and perspectives that shape me as a human being.

My guess would be that "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped Condi Rice would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped Kobe Bryant would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped Trayvon Martin would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped President Obama would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped George Jones would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped Gandhi would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped Will Rogers would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped myself would be a lot different than "the experiences and perspectives" that shaped...

You know...content of character, not color of skin - type stuff...

By the way, how's that open season on black people coming along?  I hear there are almost no black people left in the USA because the Trayvon case made it okay to kill black people and get away with it.

I think that you need to read the rest of the writings of MLK so that you will fully understand that statement.  However, experiences, responses, perspectives, etc. are all part of the context and content of a person's character.

They help shape the content of a person's character.  And we don't need to know about your experiences to see how they shaped the content of your character.  You're pretty transparent.

The TM case did not make it okay to kill African-Americans it just highlighted that the "justice" system still protects those who do and that so-called "Christians" find it as acceptable as they found slavery, Jim Crow, etc.

Yes. And, I would guess that Will Rogers had a lot more in common with Rosa Parks and Condi Rice in that regard (at least from how they were treated by others) than any of today's black youth even though those youth may look a bit more like the two above-mentioned ladies.

Actually Castor Muscular you know nothing of the content of my character.  All you know is that I will not be bullied by you or anyone else.  Oh and you also know that I disagree with you.

I don't think so rsc2a.  I think you should ask some of them to be complete honest about their experience today.  Ask them what they think of the justice system.  Ask them do they experience racism and discrimination.  You might be surprised at the difference between their experience and your perspective of their experience.
