Me and my wife have sung this as a special several times in our church, and it is one of my favorites.

The third verse of Blest be the Tie That Binds in most hymnals:


We share our mutual woes;
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
 
Then this is a verse of Blest Be the Tie that I have not seen before:

From sorrow, toil, and pain,
And sin we shall be free;
And perfect love and oneness reign
Through all eternity.

Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,

I find the 3rd verse in many hymns to be the most poignant.

The pattern goes like this.
1st verse - Sets up the theme
2nd verse - Amplifies or gives another example of the theme
3rd verse - Applies the theme. Points to the cross.
4th verse - Closes the theme with hope.

You can usually skip the 2nd verse on most hymns without losing as much as skipping the 3rd.

So poignant, it's sung twice.
