IMHO an oversimplification. Since neither party has all the answers (for if they did they would stay in power forever) then we will see this pendulum swing back. How quickly this happens will depend on the perception of the success that Trump and the Republicans are able to achieve. At least on the presidential side this is also determined by the strength of the candidate the Democrats run in 2020. Had the Democrats run a candidate that people liked we may be asking can the Republicans ever win the White House again.

I realize we'll never know, but I wonder how Bernie really would have fared had not the DNC rigged the primaries in favor of Crooked Hillary. A lot of people (i.e., entitled snowflakes) seemed to like his message.

The Democrat problem is not in winning or losing the White House.
It is the trend in the down ballots, all the way to the county commissioner level, that illustrates their huge problem.

That also swings back and forth. The good problem for the Republicans is that they to have visible success or the same folks that voted them in will be just as willing to vote them out. I understand what you are saying but used the Presidential as an example. I live in Kentucky where the Republicans have both houses and the governor for the first time in history. Great opportunity for Republicans but huge pressure that people will feel the Republicans made a difference in their lives.

I don't see it as in a lurch but strategic planning for the future.

Even Progressives realize the Democratic Party needs a major overhaul at the grassroots level...

I'm guessing the "progressives" don't think the Democratic Party is communist enough yet.

If only America could be more like those liberal socialist democrat utopias like Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea and the old USSR!
Which way are those flotillas headed, again?

No the goal is to be more like Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. You know, countries that spend more on education than the military. That is who we want to be like.

Now if we could just find someone to pay for our defense, we could afford to spend more on education like they do.  8)

Who's goal and WHO will pay for our military?
From listening to liberal socialist democrat's in our country, you would be led to believe Cuba is utopian...

Who states that Cuba is a utopia? I am Democrat and hang with Democrats who all think we live in the greatest in the world. We hate communist and love the USA.  We know our country has flaws but we sure don't think our government is somehow in a conspiracy with the media.

Exactly! The very idea that we could devote the same level of revenue towards education as the Europeans do is to ignore that we subsidize them by covering their defense costs.

You illustrate that liberals democrats, like conservatives,  are not totally monolithic. Which should be understood.... ;)

However, MANY (especially leaders) socialist liberal democrats DO have a fascination and misplaced love affair with Cuba...and Castro.

The same could be said for Canada, which is partially Trump's point about NATO.

I really enjoy an exchange of ideas... ;)

Of course, Smellin (and you, I guess) have NO answer to that real time illustration of socialism. Flotillas always head toward the US and away from socialism. Ain't reality grand?

I wasn't saying anything pro-socialism. I was having a nice dream where you posted something new for once instead of "flotilla" this, "socialist liberal democrats" that.
