Confessing our sins.  “Whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth,  announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history:  that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…
“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven.  We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity.  We have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown.  But we have forgotten God.  We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us;  and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
“Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!
“It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
Abraham Lincoln, 1863, in declaring a day of national fasting, prayer, and humiliation (The Evidence Bible)

Without national repentance God will judge this country and it won't matter who is elected.

Define national repentance. People can repent but can a nation really repent?

"Define national repentance. People can repent but can a nation really repent?"

America has kicked God out of the public schools while killing more unborn babies (55,772,015) than Joseph Stalin murdered.  Instead of teaching the Ten Commandments we are teaching our children to embrace sodomy and transgenderism and the only legal way they can use the name of Jesus or God in the public sector is as a curse word.  In spite of how imperfect America may have been her past the depravity now is to the point that I no longer recognize the country I grew up in.

“In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide.  Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate – look to his character...It is alleged by men of loose principles, or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations.  But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine.  They direct that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness…
“When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility;  he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor;  he betrays the interest of his country.”  Noah Webster

Very similar to Daniel Chapter 9 prayer.

I'm with you on abortion. Apart from that, are you suggesting we do away with our freedom of religion around which our Constitution was conceived and turn it into a theocracy form of government? I thought Republicans want to minimize government? Seems like you propose they simply revise it to allow only the freedom to practice only Christianity. Limited government, but a government that forces a particular religion. (Isn't that similar to what current Islamic countries are doing?)

Oh, and in our public high schools, the Bible IS taught as a class and a History elective, recognized with state credit.

Since you reject the scriptures I would expect your support of the homosexual lifestyle.  America was founded on Judeo-christian principles, not Islam.  However, even non-Christian religions have enjoyed freedom in this country.

This country was founded on the freedom of religion and the freedom NOT to worship. The government shall base no laws based on religion of any stripe. So you can't have your 'small government' and 'Christian nation' too. And the reason non-Christian religions have enjoyed the freedom (as well as non- and anti-religious peoples), is because of things like the SCOTUS decision who based their decision on human rights and not a particular religion's definition of marriage. That decision tore Christians up because in their minds, they had already concluded America was to be a Christian nation and that legal decision proved this country really wasn't set up to be that way, so it came back to bite Christians in the end.

OK, from a LEGAL, human rights standpoint, based SOLELY on the Constitution and NOT Christian principles (which ARE different), why shouldn't homosexual partners get medical benefits, inheritance benefits, familial rights that heterosexual families get? How did SCOTUS get it wrong legally?

Legally babies are murdered with the blessings of the Supreme Court.  Open homosexual behavior should be outlawed (as it was since our founding as a nation) just as bestiality or child sex should be illegal.  God will judge America just as He judged Sodom and Gomorrah.

Israel shared a common God and a common confession. The national religion of the U.S. is what has been described as "moralistic therapeutic Deism." I strongly doubt that the god the majority profess to believe in is actually there to hear their prayer of repentance.

I'm not saying America is Israel but are you implying that God doesn't judge modern nations no matter how wicked they become?

Does God cause rain to fall on the just and the unjust?

Since the answer is obvious are you saying that God no longer judges nations?

I'm not "implying" anything. I'm stating that there can be no "national repentance" when there is no national religious consensus.

I don't doubt God is judging the U.S. You probably saw a major chunk of that judgment delivered from the bench of the Supreme Court on June 26.

I agree on both counts.
What we need is a national revival/repentance among evangelical Christians in the US.

Killing babies, I'm with you. Not only is that murder in the eyes of God, but opposed to the right of "life" and denies the baby from "liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

You didn't answer my question. Should a gay person be denied familial rights, inheritance rights or medical insurance because he is simply another gay person's partner? How is denying him/her those rights a part of the Constitution upon which is promised "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"? As a Christian, should we deny those civil rights simply because we disapprove of their behavior?

Plus, on what Constitutional grounds should consensual gay sex become illegal? Oh, and there is NOWHERE in the Bible that mentions God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah simply for consensual homosexual sex.

OK. What civil rights should be disallowed a gay person?

Last I heard, prostitution is illegal in most states.  It's a state  / county issue just as homosexuality should be.  It's not a Constitutional matter.    While S&G might not have been destroyed strictly based on sodomy, it is mentioned and shows the wicked lifestyle of the towns.  It's inclusion is certainly not to be ignored.

So how many prostitutes are not allowed to get insurance or not allowed to see a dying loved one because of her 'profession'?

Lastly, there is no such thing as a "gay person".

Says a heterosexual...

Explain how there is not such thing as a gay person?

"Explain how there is not such thing as a gay person?"
There are obviously men drawn to having perverted sex with other men just as there are people drawn to necrophilia, pedophilia, bestiality, and just about every other sexual perversion imaginable.  That doesn't mean that sort of behavior should be embraced and taught in the public schools or made legal any more than the behavior of lying, stealing, murder or rape should be accepted because people are drawn towards those things.

Intolerance - "I have found that the most intolerant people are the ones who talk the most about tolerance.  They don't allow me to simply accept something but not agree with it.  They will want me to endorse it.  Nowadays if you don't agree with something you have a phobia.  To take a stand is defined as hate.  Conviction is called fanaticism.  Truths the church has believed for centuries now are regarded as discrimination."  Greg Laurie

Valiant try but it does not at all explain the emotional attractions and attachments developed apart from the sexual.
