Yes he was and a good man all around.  He was kind of a young Christan but was all in. I want to say he was saved at a Campus Crusade event, or at least was an influential event.  He was playing basketball with some guys, including James Dobson, at a Church in Pasadena and they had just finished up or had a brief break between games and died. I was trying to find the audio from Dr. Dobson, but was something like, Dobson asked Pete he he was doing, Pete said I feel great, and within a minute he hit the floor dead.
 
The time the G.O.A.T. (The Pope) Jack Hyles threw a woman out of his church and chastised women. Hyles also acted like Don Rickles and wasn't afraid to bash people or talk about controversial subjects.
